Action

Expected result . I expected a good action flick . I'm completely satisfied with the action sequence . Apart from action sequences , there was nothing surprising . Really missed H. Vinoth's touch . First half was good but Second half was lagged due some emotional scenes. Ajith done great job . Huma Qureshi and Karthikeya well supported . Most of the Ajith movies has good BGM support , but in this BGM was average . Cinematography was good . Overall a good weekend family entertainer to watch . Action movie lovers give a try and good treat for Ajith fans .

( ithu Ajith padam avlo dhaan , H. Vinoth padam ila ) ( Action sequence dhaan padathoda pillar )

Its not a H Vinoth movie. But complete treat for Thala fans and family audience . Stunts vera level . Many scenes are predictable but still yuvans BGM make them disappear . It's not a worst movie One time watchable mass entertainer . It has the content to get a commercial hit.

An action entertainer? Count me in.
magadalwarmayur24 February 2022
Well i come from Maharashtra and i knew not much about Ajith i had seen his transformation scene on YouTube, that's it. Then my dear friend recommended me one of his film i.e. Mankatha and i extremely liked that film and within week this films trailer had dropped which i liked so to say i was excited is an understatement.

This is without a doubt one of favourite films of the year the action set peieces are meticulously choreographed. The characters are relatable and that is the reason why this film work, the acting by all the cast members are good but the best thing about the film is the direction and cinematography.

Overall very good film that you can enjoy with family.

Full goosebumps...
sathyaaero27 February 2022
A police officer tries to catch the principal offender who's the main reason for the crimes happens in a city.

Though this film follow some commercial templates, the essence of this film was so clear and didn't fades away at any point. And this film addresses some real crime numbers that were still continuing in the city. The reason for the crimes, why it's happening, and what's the problem with the person who commits the crime was showcased clearly. Ajith Kumar and the stunt sequences in this film were the main reason to holds the audience. Ajith's presence in each scenes gives the goosebumps especially the intro scene and his stunt scenes. The action sequences were so good. And want to tell mainly that the performance of kartikeya was so good and he handles all type of emotions well. And he is the perfect villian option for this film and for Ajith also. Imagine, how should an actor be powerful and fit to play a role/villain against Ajith as he itself a perfect villan and hero. The cinematographer and editor gave their work good and I think they did their best because the cinematography and editing was the reason to the action sequences came out so well. The back ground score was good and gives goosebumps. Finally the director H Vinoth, he tried his best to maintain the essence of the film till end and yeah definitely he won in that. But where he missed out was he followed some commercial templates as it felt disappointed came from him. Other than that his direction was so good and the way he potrayed the crime scenes was awesome. The solution he gave at the end was acceptable and he gave the solution from his point and it suits well.

High Octane Action flick
prasannaspk-1486024 February 2022
Good start for Indian Cinema in 2022 with Valimai being the first Big budget film released in theatres for the year.

The movie is packed with full of high octane stunts and action sequences. H. Vinod the Director has done a great work. Nirav Shaw cinematography and Dhilip stunts stands out. Ajith's acting was utilised properly with his dialogue delivery and emotions were good. Considering his previous flicks this movie offers a lot with Ajith as an actor. Stunts and racing scenes we know what Ajith could do. It's mind blowing. Karthikeya and Huma done justice to their roles.

The only lag which some say was the family sentiments and the movie length. Common guys even fast and furious movies have lot of family sentiments and romantic scenes. Just watch it as a wholesome. The Only negative I felt that they could have explained in depth about the Satan Slaves cult.

VERDICT: Screw the critics it's an absolute action packed entertainment.

Action Packed Film
sankalpoctober24 February 2022
A action packed film, stunts were outstanding. Stunts & action sequence hyped the movie. When it comes to story there's nothing in it. Unengaging screenplay, unnecessary emotional scenes. If felth that Ajith sir was dull in the starting 20mins. Choreography could've been more better, Ajith anna's dance could've been avoided. I really hated the cinematography & lighting in the starting 30mins of this movie. I expected some story in the film.

In whole Pakka Mass packed film.

My rating is 6.7/ 10.

Solidly staged action, terrible family drama! [+41%]
arungeorge1311 March 2022
H. Vinoth tries to blend an unbearably soapy family drama with the aesthetics of an action thriller to underwhelming results in Valimai. The generic sentimental scenes (with overly moralistic overtones) ruin all the excitement of the intermittently well-done set-pieces. The cat-and-mouse game between the protagonist (a righteous cop played by Ajith Kumar) and the antagonist (the leader of a nihilistic biker gang, played by Kartikeya Gummakonda) isn't exhilarating, or rather, the screenplay doesn't build it up that well. But Vinoth excels in staging the set-pieces, and that's what makes you occasionally sit up. At 3 hours, Valimai becomes a chore to sit through because style can only do so much to keep you invested in a film that frequently gets preachy on "Amma paasam."

Ajith's screen presence Vera level and amazing BGM which lift each scene by scene. This is really wonderful action flick and high everyone should watch it in theatres to feel the sound effect. Okay hen you guys watch Fast and furious , you watch with mouth open even if there is no logic in it . Eg car flies to space in the last part . You people only criticise Indian movies . Great work done by Vinodh and team . Altogether this is really a very good decent movie of the year 2022 which combines Mass and class together with Ajith's Charisma.

Just for the name AK this movie is running and it will run for another 5 days. If it was by some other actor, then for sure movie could be flop. Reason, same old story and non sync scenes. Time for change, AK should come out of Don/Cop roles and should stop imposing bikes in movie.

"VALIMAI" The one and only Ajith. Review by M. Siraj

"VALIMAI" The one and only Ajith. Review by M. Siraj

Ajith's Valimai, the most awaited action thriller, tracks the story of an intelligent cop who unleash the knots, behind a series of crimes like chain snatching, Suicides, Drug trafficking by masked men etc by the cat-and-mouse game between Ajith and Kartikeya which excite the viewers from beginning to end. Of course, it is a foreseeable story, but the screen play fastened with brilliant action sequences, Director Vinoth keep the audience cemented to their seats, as he knew the pulse of Ajith Fans for whom, an Ajith film without Bike race and action is unimaginable.

An outlaw biker gang exploits the fecund jobless youths to organise theft, drugs, in which his brother also unintentionally involved and how Ajith bring out them in front of law, The story is simple but the segregating element is that, the film uses action to its strength and rides with rollercoaster screenplay, director H Vinoth has created a socially responsible cop who understands perfectly, the socio-economic motives behind the crimes where his investigation leads into a world of stolen bikes, the dark web, drugs, and hitmen.

Fans getting furious on seeing him again after a gap of nearly two and years of Nerkonda Parvai release, Ajith a major crowd puller keeps his fans happy with his stylish and undaunted screen presence who berms the entire movie. As a cop he is someone who doesn't believe in custodial violence or encounters, and strives to find out roots for reforming criminals. The emotional scenes were equally matching with his dance and action sequences to make Valimai a crowd-pleaser, who shares good messages of family values and his own personal, real-life views of life that makes you get up from the seats and clap for him.

The antagonist Kartikeya delivers a neat performance, making him the feared dreaded villain with excellent physique where as Huma Qureshi shines in a role to do some fight sequence who supports Ajith in the investigation without any typical duet songs.

Nirav Shah who won the best cinematography award for Dhoom 2, his cinematography is remarkable, especially the bike chase sequences which reminds Tom Cruise chasing sequences of Mission impossible, supported with another important aspect, BGM by Yuvan Shankar Raja who raises the tempo of the film, the song "Nanga Vera mathiri" catapults the viewers from the seat to the floor.

Dhilip Subbarayan's action, enriches the theatrical involvement for the audience by giving a visual treat as some of the action stretches really standout, it involves a lot of chase sequences and each scene will raise your BP, the long chase of bike-and-police-van sequence immediately after the interval is undisputedly hair raising, which is tastefully done and has a lot of twists, the entire stretch was very terrifying for the audience. One can confidently say other than Boney Kapoor nobody can invest this much for that scene cost wise. Director Vinoth carefully visualised whenever the audience feels little dull, he rejoices them with an action sequence as a salvage. Being Ajith a racer by himself, does power packed hardcore stunts involving bikes and cars in top notch, choreographed by Stunt Master Dhilip Subbu Rayan, which is beautifully filmed to keep the fans with cross fingered. Ajith completely steals the show with electrifying performance and Mission Impossible-style bike chase.

Valimai, the 3-hour run time movie is highly appealing and entertaining and its success is due to: Karthikeya's brilliant physique with ominous appearance, Huma Qureshi's skill, Dhilip Subburayans stunt choreography, Nirav Shah's eye-catching cinematography, Yuvan Shankar Raja's thrilling BGM, Director Vinoth's clarity and sense of direction through his screen play, Boney Kapoor's determination even after two and years production process with so many impediments, and finally one and only Ajith's screen presence keep the audience to be happy while coming out from the theatre.

Maybe it's my fault for having such high expectations
ardilazufir24 February 2022
I waited 2.6 years for this movie to be released and went for FDFS. I wanted to give it a 10/10 but that wouldn't be right because it's barely a 7.

The main reasons for this would be the predictable storyline, cliche dialogues and that the movie is practically 50% action scenes. The action scenes took up so much time that there is no room for character development and in the end, you don't feel any emotional connection to any character in the film. You're simply watching to see Ajith. I feel like that is the biggest disappointment.

The director could have done so much more for Valimai. Also I would like to mention that the message that director wants to put out is totally misleading and not right. I shall not say any further as to not spoil it for you.

Cinematography was great, music was great. Actions scenes were superb although it's illogical. Simply for entertainment.

7/10 - Just watch it for Ajith's sake. He's the best.

Meh
saru202027 February 2022
The good parts of the films: are bike chasing sequences, game-like screenplay to cover up the Gen Z audience.

Everything else was poor including the storytelling, voice-over, lengthy useless dialogues, comedy, romance, fight, sentiments.

Although the message that the film tries to present is genuine enough, it was poorly executed & presented with unwanted hero introduction & songs with not-so matching sequences.

The fight sequences given for the heroine did work out well but it doesn't add any value to that film as such in a big way and all.

The film is not even for Ajith fans or bike fans and looks more like it was made to fulfil Ajith's dream of making a film with some bike racing sequences.

IMO, Ajith is the only actor who probably is wasting his star presence and not utilising even a bit of it, not sure if he understands & acknowledges that star value in the first place, but he is wasting it to the core. Ajith's appearances vary across the film which itself is a distraction and doesn't connect the audiences at all, a huge bummer for the film.

Overall, it is a half baked & very poorly executed film with lengthier useless portions just to fill in the gaps.

Warning: Spoilers
The making is good. But unnecessary second half 100 minutes. It would have been better if the movie was wrapped up in the interval block.

Not a gripping storyline.

Out & out action - racy and pacy but lengthy
Moviebuff_Chennai24 February 2022
Action Crime

179 mins of toal running time including credits.... That is really a pain and definetely it is a big negative impact.

10 mins of intro stunt + 10 mins of construction fight- ok 20 mins chase before interval - very good 20 mins bus chase post interval - excellent 20 mins climax sequence - very good

so total of 60 good stunts length and 20 mins of additional stunt sequences are more enough for the movie. Apart from those another 20-30 mins would have made this movie a super hit and gripping. But 2 hours of the extra length makes us feel a big lag and dry.

Ajith complexion is questionable as there is a lot of continuity missed. Mainly his haircut and dye. His expressions and acting is a usual and done his job well.

Karthikeya is a very good find but worth of a Hero candidate and pity to see him as villain. Atleast as a villain he got good screen space.

Huma is inserted at times and made us feel she had good space.

Sundar and ajith family members were also doing their parts to fill the time and it is not required and those were lags.

Main stars are Nirav Shah and Dilip Subbarayan - they did extremely well - else Valimai would have been trolled to core.

Vinoth is completely out of track as his strength is detailing the scenes with information - that is missing badly. Better go for unpopular heroes - else he will lose his career.

Yuvan scored good 2 songs and Gibran did not cope up to Yuvan levels - may be director did not give him such options. Remember he scored beautifully in Papanasam & Ratsasan - so find where the mistake was.

Overall - this movie is like a Hindi movie.

If you are an action movie fan - you will love it, if you expect perfect commercial masala - then you wont like that much.

If you are expecting family drama - not your pick at all.

Hollywood wali feelings
gauravpjkumar26 March 2022
One of the best action movies I had ever seen till date.

Box office figures of Valimai are disputed. According to trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, Valimai grossed crore on its opening day in the state of Tamil Nadu, while Jatinder Singh of Pinkvilla said that the film grossed crore in Tamil Nadu on its opening day. This is the highest opening day in Tamil Nadu according to Box Office India,or the second highest opening day behind Sarkar , according to Pinkvilla and Bollywood Hungama. Jatinder Singh of Pinkvilla estimated that Valimai grossed crore worldwide on its opening day.

Waiting for the day Tamil cinema will outgrow these pointless formula movies
isaacsundaralingam27 February 2022
Why are movies like this even made today? Valimai, starring Ajith Kumar is as every bit a cliché as you'd have expected it to be. It wasn't boring, because there was at least something going on on screen, but whatever that was, it certainly didn't add anything meaningful to this bloated genre in this bloated film industry.

The worst offender of this movie is its horrible villain, and his horrible character development. It's the most basic "bad guy who's ripped enough to look like an underwear model" with no depth or dimension whatsoever. And everything tied to his character too, was cringe-worthy. From the whole Satan's Slaves gimmick, to his brain-rotting "edgy" Tumblr incel philosophies and to his motivations of taking whatever he wants that makes him happy. Take some writing classes before you write a screenplay, Jesus Christ.

Overall, it wasn't a horrible movie but it's nowhere near even being average. Sad to see Ajith Kumar loosing his respect as an actor for his gnat IQ movie choices, one movie at a time.

Basically this is a typical Ajith movie where he wears sunglasses everywhere and walks and walks and keeps on walking. Or riding a bike. There's no story. So unless you're a brainless fanatic, this movie isn't worth your time and money.

A fun time pass
nishasuperboy24 February 2022
In terms of action sequences, this film is a blast, it was well choreographed and throughout the sequence, the intensity was maintained primarily in the interval chase scene and the bus sequence post-interval, on top of that Ajith's screen presence plays an enormous role. But apart from that, the sentiments didn't work well between the characters, some might won't enjoy the drama portion in the film and story-wise it's not something different, we all have seen films that's takes place in the backdrop of narcotics, gangsters, and cop trying to bring a change, tbh if you can digest certain things most of these negatives can be disregarded and doesn't really affect the film in a huge way .

Overall it's enjoyable if certain things can be neglected.
