NOT CANADIAN
Janebo14 May 2020
To whoever was blathering about Canada this and Canada that, this was filmed in NEVADA, the lead actress was born in UTAH, the other main actors were born in NEW YORK, DETROIT, etc. Everywhere but CANADA. Not a CANADIAN in sight, so maybe rewatch it or just forget about reviewing movies, if you're that clueless.

Good try guys.
churchw428 March 2020
It might be fun to watch if your Canadian, otherwise I found it hard to get into "because you can take the Canadian out of Canada, but you can't take the Canada out of a Canadian".. some examples: -A haunted trailer home -Canadian accents slipping out left and right -Strange demeanors, lingo, and odd reactions to things (i.e.-"...but, why?? Who does/says that??".. lol, Canadians do, I promise you.)

........strangest ending EVER... "strange" as in I had to ask myself why I was laughing, almost felt like satire. Although I'm sure it's a generally terrifying thought for Canadians; a single mom getting trapped in a cheap manufactured home, middle of nowhere in a desert (in the USA), with your mother's vengeful/bi-polar spirit.

I'll give it a generous 4.5/10.... slightly painful watch after the halfway point, but overall I can't really say it wasn't worth the dose of "Cana-weird" it provided. The movie "Housebound" constantly came to mind while I was watching this (especially the last scene) but that movie embraced those more "moronic" traits scattered throughout... I'd only watch this if you literally don't have anything better to do (there's nothing to lose in that case!) but I can't at all say anyone "shouldn't" watch it.... was a truly well done indie on many other lvls. It's kinda cool to see demographic and nationalities shine through in weird ways in film and other mediums.

Pretty good for a low budget film
ddquezergue27 April 2020
I read some of the reviews before watching this so I didn't have high hopes. And maybe that's why I enjoyed it. The acting was decent. It looked good. I was interested the entire time. I didn't love the lead character. I like to sympathize with the lead character. Couldn't do it on this one. But over all, I'd say if you like ghost stuff. give it a watch.

So bad it hurts
guilebranco4 May 2020
Makes me really upset that they spent so much in great cinematography, great shots, even acting wasn't bad... For such a lame story that makes no sense.

Oh I SEE It's One Of Those....Type....Films
wandernn1-81-68327412 May 2020
This is one of those 'haunting' movies / stories with a female lead where they attempt to make you feel some empathy / emotion/ feel sorry / for the character but to me that was just a big fail.

-1 Star for What I said above. The lead was just as much of a scumbag as her boyfriend was.

It was an okay telling of a fairly common premise but there was nothing I noticed that stood out as good, or original, or cool. So all in all very average.

-1 Star for a bad ending. No closure. Characters at the end that would have certainly done more were just left hanging.

Just not a very good movies.

"She Belongs to the House now"
rpgardner712 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What the heck?? So the new boyfriend tries to save her but because the older man says she belongs to the house, he just gives up???? Just like that?? Stupid stupid stupid. Not gonna put up a fight? Not gonna fight for your girl?? Yes it's low budget. Got it. BUT, it had the potential to be a really good film. Needed better actors. They had no chemistry on screen. And overall, too many holes in the plot giving it a feel of nonsensical. Sorry but this was a dud!

Should have read reviews
Mischiefboi8 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It made no sense what so ever, for Abigail to haunt Katie. Katie did nothing to her. If Abigail did kill herself, she shouldn't be haunting Marge either. Just burn down the place and go. It had a very bad ending.

Why all the hate?
haskel-729511 June 2020
This was a pleasant surprise. Well written, well directed, solid acting. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel but isn't fully predictable. It's much better than most of the garbage masquerading as horror that somehow make it into a wide theatrical release. It's easy to recommend this to horror fans.

Great INDIE film!
kewee962424 April 2020
Personally i think this film was good! I think what people dont understand is that an Indie film is a lowbudget film!!!!! The quality of the film was phenomenal, the editing was steller and the performances were great! This isnt a million dollar budget film.......great job to the cast and crew for making an INDIE film look good(because there are some terrible ones out there) there will always be people out there that will pick out SOMETHING wrong with art...and art is very subjective. With that said, well done:)

Fairly impressed
enriqueayalajr29 May 2020
Ok so for a low budget film ... I think it's safe to use the words hidden gem... (loosely) . I think while someone Could've probably used a low budget better Kelly Schwarze did a fine job of building suspense building characters and building up to a climax in the first two acts.... I must say I was impressed with the acting which seemed very natural .. the actress fell a bit short During her scared scenes however she and her friend did great at capturing an authentic relationship... as did the wise old man... I felt like side from the haunting life in a foster trailer is probably exactly like this... Abigail looked terrifying and Marge nailed "haunted cyco" so I am glad I watched it because I needed a deep breath of horror even if it wasn't "fresh"

Solid low-budget movie
Centaur2327 January 2021
It is always amusing to see people giving movies 1 star because it doesn't hold up (in their mind) to the Spider-Man 9. This is an indie film, people. Just because it's not full of endless CGI doesn't mean you cant appreciate it for what it is.

A solid indie horror film
craigahrens24 April 2020
Bravo to the filmmakers of this solid indie horror film! I completely enjoyed myself. It was not an over the top horror film which I appreciated. It was a rather gradual build which I thought played really well. The director did a good job in telling the story and kept the pace of the film moving along. The actors were all good choices and played their characters well. In particular I liked Chelsea Jurkiewicz. But again, I enjoyed all the actors. So for me, this one gets a thumbs up.

It wasn't horrible
robbierobin9 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It kept my interest.

It had me rooting against the protagonist because she started being stupid.

Sitting down screaming in a bathroom corner instead of exiting the bathroom when a ghost was slowly creeping her way from the opposite side of bathroom, and she returns home to have confrontation with Foster mom after being choked out by a ghost at said home where ghost also choked Foster mom.

I was rolling my eyes at both and honestly the mom ghost actions towards the daughter didn't make sense.

Overall it was decent though.

Wow! Great Ghost Story!
twelve-house-books25 September 2020
Every once in a while an independent movie knocks my socks off. The acting was superb even if the story line was a bit tangled. Every actor gives his and her very best--all are stars worthy of accolades. Too, I've spent quality time in Reno, Nevada and even moreso in Prescott, AZ, so the fact that this movie was filmed in those areas was a huge plus for me. I like films set where I have lived, and that's been quite a few places. Too, Ghost Stories are my all-time favorite subgenre of Horror. This one really couldn't lose. I don't understand the low star score for this gem.

Solid if unremarkable ghost effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder16 July 2020
Trying to get out of a bad situation, a troubled woman on the run returns to her childhood foster home to start anew, but as she spends more time inside the house the more she unravels a disturbing secret about the house and tries to save herself from succumbing to it.

This was a decent enough if somewhat troubled genre effort. Among it's best qualities is the strong atmosphere and build-up that runs throughout the first-half that manages to build up a fine chilling quality here. Though it tends to work at a slow-burn tempo throughout here, the creepiness and unsettling energy on display are quite effective with the idea that something isn't right within the house and there's a presence inside that's trying to do her and all who enter harm. With this being full of the traditional haunted house cliches of hearing strange noises in the distance, flickering lights hiding strange movements in the distance or having her mother repeat bizarre, broken fragments to her that she later comes to understand their true meaning, this gives off a rather creepy atmosphere that keeps this one quite intriguing. With this early build-up coming into play, the films' ghostly scenes of her coming face-to-face with unexplained encounters have plenty of chilling impact. This is somewhat due to the fine work established with the main character who initially seems to be quite hard to get behind her since the initial moment we met her is hesitantly but still openly killing a business partner in cold blood and dodging the authorities to return home unannounced to a strained relationship with her foster mother. However, once we get past that the scenes of her finding the ghost in the forbidden shed, later scene in the darkened bathroom stalls or the finale where the series of encounters within the house and shed work nicely alongside the revelations made and serve this one nicely. Coupled with a chilling main ghost, there are some enjoyable elements here. There are a few flaws to be had with this one. One of the main issues is the fact that, despite the best intentions on display, it's premise here is just too familiar and overly-familiar to stand out much. This is filled with so many of the usual tropes and sequences that are part-and-parcel of the genre where it's quite easy to figure out the pieces and where it's gonna go. The central mystery of the shed isn't difficult at all to figure out once the mere mention of it is brought up, the fact that so many of the scenes are never gonna threaten her at all make them quite impactless and it straightforwardly runs through them. The other problem here is a rather unsatisfying and weak ending, with an abrupt change-of-face from one of the strongest characters here for no reason than to pull off the dark resolution it didn't need. These are what hold it back overall.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Violence and children-in-jeopardy.

Well Done
onnoleighsweetman29 March 2020
Great pacing and story line. Top notch production, from a technical aspect the editing was on point. I was very impressed with the actors, specifically the lead actress Chelsea. She carried the story and is a fine tuned actress. With most horror movies that can be hard to do but it was executed perfectly. No over acting in the film and a realness to the characters. I actually had to google the lead actress I was so impressed... My sister and I are horror movie fans our whole lives so I definitely recommended to her and she is watching today. Well done folks.

A good ole haunting
shagee797729 March 2020
Get ready to be scared in Directors Kelly Schwarze "Abigail Haunting".

Chelsea Jurkiewicz plays Katie a young girl who escapes from a abusive relationship and returns to her childhood home. Katie grew up in a foster home and now is greeted by her foster mother Marge (Brenda Daly) who is sick now and never leaves the house. As soon as she steps foot in the house strange occurrences begin. Things that go bump in the night bang all the time. What a freaking creepy Nightlight in her room. Old friend Brian (Austin Collazo) rekindles there friendship and tries to understand his friends fears that only she sees. He is drawn in to all her experiences and when investigates Nothing shows up. A mysterious man Walter (Michael Monteiro) brings food and claims he has been caring for Marge warns Katie to leave. He is the only one that doesn't think she is crazy and slowly reveals the dark secrets Marge hides. Katie soon learns the evil that possesses the house is named Abigail. Katie is a powerhouse and a spectacular actress that's needs to be watched. Her fear is captured perfectly by Director Kelly Schwarze. The cinematography is so effective it takes you in the action and really put you on the edge of the seat. A perfect combination of imagery, lightning and music have you jumping numerous times. Kelly knows the genre and knows what works. Brenda Daly will scare you and look forward to every time she is on screen. Her friend Brian is drawn into this madness and sees his friend slowly, what he thinks, going crazy. Every performance is this movie compliments the other and really makes a well rounded, well constructed movie that will be enjoyed...with the lights on. It's ironic that this movie is released now. It's about a women who is home bound. Similar to the current situation we are facing. So while trapped in the house going stir crazy, escape for 90 minutes and be scared very scared. I hardly do this but I am going to watch again. I truly had a great time!
