Sex & Nudity

  • Kissing and making out shown. No nudity (season 1).
  • When a girl comes over to a boys house, the mom of the boy says to "keep the bedroom door a tad open"
  • There is lots of making out in this show, specifiaclly more in Season 2.
  • The word 'hanky-panky' is said once. And there are a few conversations about sex.
  • In Episode 5 a statue of a woman's breast is shown. Nipples are visible. Two Girls take a photo with it. Topless nude girl statue.
  • In season 2, charlie and nick talk about 'doing it'

Violence & Gore

  • There's some fighting but nothing too graphic. There are bruises and nosebleeds but the injuries aren't gory or over-the-top.
  • A character states that he used to commit self harm. The discussion is not graphic and no self harm is shown on screen.

Profanity

  • "Fag" is said once. "Piss" is also used once.
  • Ass and piss are used
  • Tao calls Harry a "rich bellend" once.
  • Unlike the comic there is no strong language
  • The words "dick" and "shit" are used kinda often in Season 2, "fag" is used once in Season 1. And someone almost says the f word but is cut off.
  • There isnt really any bad cursing, and when there is cursing its very little and not that bad of curses.
  • Forceful and rude language. Not always swearing but homophobic, manipulative and bullying.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In Season 2 there are mentions of alchohol and scenes of people drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Multiple scenes of bullying and harassment. There is a non-consensual kiss.
  • The series maintains a light tone, but there are some scenes that may be upsetting to younger viewers
  • There are conversations and events in connection to eating disorders and self harm.
  • In season 1 episode 2, one of the bullies says, "I'd rather be dead than gay." Charlie is clearly extremely uncomfortable in this scene.

Sex & Nudity

  • Male gets pushed against a wall and is forcibly kissed by another male
  • A teen boy is forcibly kissed by another teen boy without his consent. Another boy pushes the second boy off when he sees the first boy in distress.
  • In Season 2, Nick gives Charlie a hickey.
  • When Charlie tells his parents he's in a relationship the father says that Charlie's significant other can't come over for sleepovers and must always keep the door open so they don't have 'hanky panky'

Violence & Gore

  • Nick and Harry get into a fight but it ends quickly and cuts to Nick with a black eye
  • Tao and Harry fight with people surrounding them, Nick trys to break it up but Harry hits him. Not graphic at all
  • Darcy vomits after drinking too much aftermath is shown on the teachers hotel bed. Will trigger those with emetophobia.

Profanity

  • In season 1, Harry is homophobic and jokes about Nick being friends with Charlie, and doesn't like the idea of it. Later in about season 2, Nick stops being friends with Harry.
  • Ben calls Imogen a bitch.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In Season 2, there is a scene where underage teens are drinking, and one of them ends up vomiting.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a fight scene which is only a few seconds but younger viewers may find it intense. Not graphic at all, small nosebleed. This fight scene contains the f*gg*t slur, and might be triggering to those who have been called this in the past.
  • In Season 2 the main character,Charlie hints to have Anorexia. Alice Oseman (creator of the Heartstopper books) posted an author's note that Season 3 will be all about Charlie journey battling with Anorexia and OCD,and on his way to get out of "the deep end".
  • In Season 2 the main character Charlie, reveals that he used to cut himself.
  • Charlie has some kind of eating disorder (talked about quite often) and faints at the Louvre. The fainting scene as well as the build up could be frightening to younger viewers.
  • Nick and Charlie have a conversation about self harm at the end of episode 8, season 2. This is emotional and possibly upsetting to younger viewers.
