Just An Another Day At Yellowstone
IvanPupyshev18 July 2020
Yellowstone continuous its strong Season 3 with slow-tempo, but a great episode which once more shakes ground for many characters.

After a game-changing events of the previous episode we found Dutton and his associates returning to normal, ranching, camping or plotting against its enemies. Episode is a little too melodramatic as barely every character shares a relationship moment during the runtime - at one point it even becomes annoying, however, cuts at the right moment. Yellowstone was always great at showing characters' everyday occupations and 3x04 does a great deal of it, though in a perfect world it could be less generic at times. Nevertheless, the last 5 minutes strikes with a bang and bring one of the best subplots of the series, leaving the audience on a really high note.

The season so far is a slight improvement over the last one, where we got a fight against some sort of cartoonish Beck-brothers characters and proceeds stronger with every episode. Though, there is no visible story improvement, Yellowstone continuous to tease the audience with the anticipation of the culmination.

Last 10 minutes were great, but to much melodrama overall

Greetings from Lithuania.

If not for last 10 minutes of so (no spoilers), this episode wouldn't be good. Its just to much soap drama kinda started to be more and more. Its not that its bad, it isn't, but its not what i signed up for. Yet good acting and amazing scenery saves it, but they need to move this story a bit more aggressively forward, because this drama isn't the best one around.

Ignore the haters, funniest episode yet!

Really good episode, all characters are exceptionally humanised, setting things up nicely for the rest of the season.

It doesn't have to be violence, land-grab and general backstabbing all the time (not that there wasn't any of that in the episode).

Not a lot happens in terms of plot development, but many could argue that previous episodes were so heavily focussed on the narrative that they forgot about the characters.

If that is your belief, then this episode remedies those concerns.

For a filler episode this one was particularly rich and thoughtful. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Probably one of the most enjoyable and lighthearted Yellowstone episodes, I have watched so far.

Also, Jimmy is the absolute best character!

Starting to feel like the characters are my family

I'm really getting into this show now. I really liked the first two seasons but season 3 has really gotten under my skin. The story telling is top notch and I'm looking.forward to seeing where we end up. I read that people are complaining because there isn't as much violence, but for me this season is infinity more believable because there is less violence. Let's be honest you can't go killing dozens of people a year and keep getting away with it.

Yes there are some minor pacing issues but compared to many shows these days, I can happily see past them. Enjoyed to slow build up to the final biker scene. Some fantastic dialogue.

This show has seriously lost its "oomph"

Warning: Spoilers
The first two seasons felt like tight thrillers. So far, S3 feels like a very dull lifetime drama. It's indicative that the credits sequence in E4 feels likes it from another show, after jokey nonsense with Jimmy and the girl the sweeping, epic tones of the theme feel completely mismatched from what we've just seen. There are no threats here, just vague corporate fluff with no charisma, memorable characters or dynamics.

Imagine if a virgin girl fell of a horse, a guy walks into her hospital room and says he wants to have sex with her - for no reason beyond her winning a rodeo. Doesn't really know her at all. The girl says she's in bad shape, worried about her back. The guy carries on anyway and shags her - and this scene was played for laughs? That's a gender reversal of what we're shown here as some misguided attempt at comedy. All I could think about during her kissing him was how much he would stink, as if he'd have a single flicker of libido in his post-surgical state. Cringe.

Then we have Kayce's kid wondering half naked into the woods. He once did similar and almost drowned in a river, but that's ok, haha! Let's just make out on a rock here by the river! Oh look a wolf, what about our son? Oh well, forget him, let's make out! It's just absurd. I have no idea what a scene like that was written for, most of these episodes have felt like "filler" so far.

Then we have a shoe-horned bit of action using the most clichéd, stereotyped biker gang ever filmed.

The most cringe, almost satire moment has to be Chief Rainwater (who's had nothing to do this season) wafting sage over his head after a <1minute meeting.

This episodes cringe profundity trophy goes to Kayce, saying "live each day like there's no tomorrow - one day you'll be right". Ugh.

Four episodes already and all that's happened is two guys killed in a trailer (dealt with), Jimmy fell off a horse (gets laid), clichéd bikers cut a fence (then go home). Wow, gripping stuff.

Really?
nemesis-8820 October 2020
This hospital "sex" scene is supposed to be funny? We're supposed to laugh at a guy who is worried his first sex will leave him paralyzed for life? Is that "barel racer" girl, whatever that is, is supposed to be "cool"? What the heck is going on with this show!?

another lame episode
jjsoltis14 July 2020
Nothing happened. Almost half the season and very little drama.very little plot. What? are they gonna wait until the last 30 mins of the last episode to throw out a baited hook for next season. Losing interest.

Episode 304

Warning: Spoilers
I don't think Beth and Rip are what you would call a supercouple. But more importantly this is just painful TV. It is dragging down the show when she is on.

Painful

If I wanted to watch a soap, I'd tune into one, or find a Harliquin romance on the Woman's Channel.

too little violence, too late...
imizrahi20027 February 2022
So here's how it looks to me... the first two seasons are hot wired with violence...to keep those reviewers who gave this episode a low score happy... and, no matter how they put it in their reviews, that, most likely, is the problem...one says 'harlequin romance'...another comments about the sex scene...(and another, hilariously, comments on bad language, but gave the episode a high rating...i guess this is the only episode they've seen).

But the way the show worked the adrenaline up for the first two seasons was, mostly, with violence...and now a good deal of the viewers exPECT it.

Don't get me wrong...i'm NOT saying i'm aGAINST the violence or feel it's unrealistic or ANY such thing... but they, themselves, say how they're not in it for the 'romance' and such...

i have no idea how the writers will handle this...but it seems that the show is trying to excise some of what it got people on board for... good luck with THAT...
