Was really looking forward to see this movie.. so disappointed! Since when do you lose all facial expressions just because your blind.. felt like watching a statue the hole movie. And they forgot big details.

Ugh

This really is poorly made garbage. I'll grant that the masked stalker is somewhat creepy but that's all that can be said in a positive light for this movie. It exudes an air of cheapness and the interminable scenes set to music are by far the worst scenes I've seen in years. The songs are absolutely insipid, cookie-cutter pop music tripe like something you'd get on a cd sampler with your newly purchased knockoff brand stereo system...as performed by knockoff musicians who whine rather than sing.

Not much to see here, actually... pardon the pun!

I had not heard about the 2019 movie "Blind" from writer Joe Knetter and director Marcel Walz before now late in 2020 when I sat down to watch it. I glanced over the synopsis and it seemed interesting enough, and the movie's cover also helped win me over.

So I sat down to watch it, and turns out that while the movie definitely was watchable, it just wasn't a fulfilling movie. I feel like director Marcel Walz squandered so much potential, and the movie ended up being somewhat as a less than mediocre experience. This wasn't an outstanding movie experience.

I will say that the movie was nicely enough acted out, and lead actress Sarah French definitely carried the movie quite well with her performance.

One thing that puzzled me was the text to voice modulator, how quick it was to spit out full sentences, even if Luke (played Tyler Gallant) wasn't really typing or pressing much, that just made no sense to me.

And then there was the thing with the slasher or the madman in the movie. That was just a very anti-climatic villain to have in the movie. There were so many other ways that writer Joe Knetter could have managed to put together a more devious and memorable bad guy.

Storywise, then "Blind" was pretty straight forward, but don't go expecting a rollercoaster of thrills and excitement, because then you will be sorely disappointed.

All in all, while the movie is watchable, it was not overly enjoyable or entertaining. My rating of "Blind" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars. There are far better horror movies out there that is centered around a blind protagonist.

Really poor
Leofwine_draca22 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A really poor "blind woman in peril" type film which has been done better so many times before with the classy likes of BLIND TERROR and WAIT UNTIL DARK well worth checking out. This one starts out interestingly enough, with one supporting character modelled on the blind girl in Fulci's THE BEYOND which surprised me. The acting isn't too shabby for a low budget feature either. However, once the serial killer comes into this it gets very boring very quickly, leading to an endlessly protracted non-climax that will disappoint anyone who's wasted time sitting through this in the first place.

Looks like end is missing

Warning: Spoilers
Story is good. But how the movie ends is not called an end. You will be lost that who is this guy why he is killing and what he has to do with other characters. And on top of it - You will never get those answers. :)

Blindingly bad
Stanlee10715 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is an attempt of a film noir. However, I found it excruciatingly slow and uneventful. Even during the "action" scenes I found it boring. It dragged at a snail's pace throughout. There is an air of melancholy even during the support group scenes. This was a bad omen that there is no saving this film. The pay off at the end is uninspiring & this film felt like a none event.

Seeing through

I wouold say that this low budget horror movie has its heart in the right place (no offense to the wrong or left place). But it also has quite a few issues that might or might not bother you while you watch it. The pacing of the movie is one of them, the predictability the other one. And the ending will either remedy most of those things or it will just feel like an add on.

The deleted scenes contain a couple of things that would have made certain scenes better. It is nice to see a Horror legend like Caroline Williams, even more so by tackling something she probably isn't that familiar with. The gimmick with the vision and sound works only to a degree and is more an obstacle overall unfortunately. Still I have seen worse movies, even if this drags a lot and feels like it is too long while the running time does not suggest it

I would rather watch lord of the ring 100 times all over again than this....what a waste of time...love creepy movies and this sort of stuff, but this is just out of order.

OMG!
azizmalhas5 January 2021
This has to be one the worst movies I have ever seen in my entire life. And I usually try not to rate 1 to movies because of the effort; but this one earned it easily. The movie was 88 minutes long and I finished it in 10 minutes on fast forward and I still got the whole story.

Acting; bad Story; bad Cinematography; bad Suspense; none.

Avoid at all costs.

Too Meandering
ellenmorrison-1248510 May 2021
A blind actress staying in an isolated Hollywood Hills house is stalked by a psycho wearing a mask who kills anyone that gets close to her.

That sounds like a fun premise, doesn't it? Unfortunately, Blind might have what it takes in the technical department (the lighting, editing, sound, etc. Are all top notch), but it lacks a lot in the script department.

Even at under 90 minutes, Blind drags after the initial setup is out of the way and we're treated to scene after scene of our heroine walking around the house by herself as her stalker watches her from outside, eventually getting inside, and then doing the same thing. After 3 or 4 instances of this happening, it gets stale and we stop caring if her life is on the line or not.

Solid and impressive unconventional slasher effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder4 November 2020
After suffering a debilitating accident, a now-blind actress moves into a dark depression staying at her house and causes a friend and personal trainer to move to lift her spirits, but when she begins to suspect something is wrong she finds herself unaware of the psychotic killer stalking her in her home.

There was quite a lot to enjoy about this one. Most of that is centered around the likable premise which features quite an impressive setup. With the idea of the leads of the film being blind and determined to not let it affect them, there's an equal mix of humor and pathos to be found in the setup. Using the support group to push each other up over their supposed limitations as well as crack jokes about heightened sense creates a wholesome and appealing setting for everything else around her, as the day-to-day struggles this also presents alongside the good that comes out of the meetings. From their friendship and later burgeoning relationship that emerges out of the situation that is quite enjoyable to watch play out, this build-up creates a great amount of sympathy for later on. On top of that, there's so much to like here when this drops the dramatic elements and offers up the more usual genre elements. With the insert shots of the killer in his lair obsessing over the strange artifacts he keeps, there's a rather creepy and sinister air to everything that's only enhanced with the bizarre lighted decorations strewn all over which provides an eerie blue-ish purple glow. With an impressive stalking scene featuring the abducted victim taking place within this location, the suddenness of the masked killer appearing to stalk and torment the victim allows for some enjoyable atmospheric build-up to occur. When it shifts to the house and the events of the killer being there the whole time despite her being unaware of it due to her conduction, the situation is exponentially creepier and more suspenseful as the thought of the same fate befalling her as the other victims who are falling prey due to circumstance while she has no chance to know he's there and watching everything. With a truly suspenseful and chilling series of events in the finale featuring some creepy visuals and action, this one manages quite a lot to hold it up overall. There are some minor flaws with the film overall. One of the biggest factors is a decidedly personal issue in that, for all the great build-up done about her relationship and struggle with her condition, doesn't leave this one filled with too many genre-friendly moments in the first half. The kills don't start in earnest until around the halfway point of the film meaning that for some out there the measured pace won't be that interesting or exciting. It's far easier for fans of slow-burn genre fare who will be more appreciative of this tempo as a slasher film incorporating that setup isn't too common and might result in some thinking it's bland or dull. As well, there are also a few small issues in the finale where it takes far too much incredulity to believe it can be pulled off with all the foreshadowing about noticing the differences in the world around them due to their disability which is a missed point. However, none of these are too detrimental and there's a lot to like here.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Brief Nudity and Language.

Reviewers are unrealistic
PhilPacker7725 February 2022
This is a really good indie horror movie. Movie watchers in the age of Marvel and streaming are impatient with unrealistic expectations. This isn't filled with CGI but is a solid low budget horror movie that would have been highly praised by movie watchers two decades ago. Classic masked killer. Can't wait to watch the sequel.

Slow but watchable
bananaspider5 November 2020
I just don't understand the part of when a glass was dropped on the floor and the dramatization of going back and forth to the piece that was left on the floor and then she finally stepping on it. It had no relevance to the movie as it didn't even show her injured after that or walking funny.

Pretty decent
kyleallencole929 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Just finished this one on tubi tv and it was a decent slasher flick.

I was a little thrown off by the abrupt ending that didn't have any resolution.

I checked IMDb and they have a sequel to this coming out this August called Pretty Boy.

Features the same blind actress also that he has kidnapped and takes her to a friends Valentines day party and begins a new murder spree.

Warning: Spoilers
Faye (Sarah French, who has also worked under the stage name Scarlet Salem) was once an actress, but laser eye surgery has made her blind. She's attempting to get her life back together as she lives in a dream home high up in the Hollywood Hills. However, just when she starts to open up, she learns that a masked stranger named Pretty Boy (Jed Rowen, Sluggo from The Ghastly Love of Johnny X) is stalking her.

Horror fans will be happy to see Caroline Williams (Stretch from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, as well as appearances in movies such as Stepfather 2, Leprechaun 3, Hatchet III and Verotika) in this as Faye's supportive friend Sophia. She runs a support group that helps our heroine, as well as introduces her to her love interest Luke (Tyler Gallant), a mute personal trainer who can only communicate via phone.

However, Pretty Boy has created an idealized version of Faye that he will kill to keep true within his head. Originally content to stay within his colorful hideout and dance with a doll that he pretends is our heroine, he soon ventures out into our reality and begins taking out everyone close to her. Of course, she can't see that the white suited and masked killer is just within her reach.

By the time this all starts coming together, we get a post-credit reveal that this is just part one, something that has seemingly upset many of the critics of this film. Well, it looks pretty, I can say that much. Williams does a great job in her role, as always. And I liked the design of Pretty Boy, which is in sharp contrast to the grunge and filth look of most slasher killers.

This was directed by Marcel Walz, who made the 2016 version of Blood Feast and Rootwood.

The film falls way short of its potential due to its tragic ending
kevin_robbins27 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Blind (2019) is a movie I recently watched for free on Tubi after seeing the poster on here. I actually thought the killer in the back was a robot 🤖...it's not. 😂 The storyline focuses on a blind woman who became blind after an accident. She used to be an actress but is now a recluse after her accident. After some encouragement from her best friend and a support group she decides to let herself be vulnerable and start dating again; unfortunately, someone who has been watching her may "cut in" to her life. The director of this movie is Marcel Walz (Pretty Boy and Blood Feast) and stars Sarah French (Pretty Boy), Caroline Williams (Greenlight), Tyler Gallant (Rootwood) and Jed Rowen (Social Distance). The characters, storyline and set-up for this is so good. The script, character development and acting sets the tone for both a dramatic and creepy film. It's a really eerie movie that is well paced and well delivered till the very end...then the end happens which is a long, frustrating awkward monologue that destroys the movie. As she talked I kept asking myself "what are you doing? Shut-up and kill her already." Unfortunately, the film falls way short of its potential due to its tragic ending...like Game of Thrones. Overall this isn't a complete waste of time and absolutely terrible, but falls short of its potential. I'd score this a 5.5/10.

I always lock the door
nogodnomasters24 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Sarah French plays a famous actress who became blind through bad surgery. She is smitten by a mute in her support group. She also has secret someone who "protects" her from other voyeurs and he wears a mask.

It is one of the most boring slashers I have seen. Characters are wooden. Poor dialogue too.

Guide: No swearing as I recalled, but I did fast forward. No sex. Blurred butt shower nudity.

Style over substance?
Stotinumdog552 September 2020
I'd love to really praise this film, which I saw about 3 weeks ago at Romford Film Festival, but i feel it really went for style over plot, if it had taken an eye off the visuals and put more into the plot it would have been ideal.

Having seen Blood Feast at Frightfest some years ago, its clear the filmmaker has much improved, its pacing and direction of actors has massively improved.

Bind has a place in world, but I feel if there is going to be a Blind 2 they need to focus more on plot than visuals.

Great Looking Slasher
bettybenzone7 September 2021
On a visual level, Blind is next to perfect. There are great production values (the Hollywood Hills house is beautiful), the filmmaking team seems to know their way around a camera, and it's filled with bright, eye-popping color.

Unfortunately, that's where the praise for this film will end. The script is a mess and the acting isn't much better although it's nice seeing Caroline Williams from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 again and she does ok with what she's given. There are too many unanswered questions that kept taking me out of the film. The story keeps crawling to a halt to give us scene after scene of this creepy guy in a mask (the mask is one of the other high points of the film) watching the lead character through her windows for what seems like an eternity.

There is worst movies than this!
cjm148328 July 2021
The heart of the movie is the color schemes, visuals and visual effects. The story is very weak and scenes drag on and on! Cheers solute to slasher genre with the killer's mask resembling "Ken doll or Cupid!"
