Exceptional addition to the series, both are less without the other.
dameon_green23 April 2020
Of course without first watching the series the movie will make little sense, but this is one of the few examples I've seen where an add on movie makes such an impact on how I see the series, worth the time!

I don't really know how I feel about this movie, but this is some sort of an explanation
fun_dude5 February 2020
In short, a good movie that i wanted and expected to be perfect, but it wasn't. I think it deserves no more than 7 just for the later parts of the movie, but the first 45 minutes are solid 10 for sure, then it slowly goes downhill. I still love the series, but as much as i really wanted to love this movie I'ts a bit disappointing.

I waited for this movie for so long, I was really looking forward to it, and when i started watching it, it was just amazing. I really enjoyed the anime, and this was going to answer allot of my question. The first half was just great, It has the humor, it's interesting and fun, then it becomes more and more intriguing, and at some point, you can understand everything, and you can figure out whats about to happen, and of course you are wrong it flips everything on its head. The last 30 minutes I just didn't like it as much as I wanted to. It just tries to go as many routes as it can and it really gets frustrating, and then the end happens and you realize that all the stakes, all the routes this movie took were for absolutely nothing.

I didn't expect it to be that good...
zelinkbotw2 December 2019
I have nothing to say...I cried i do not know how many times, i laughed many times. This movie literally played with my emotions and the plot with the musics were perfect, literally perfect! I truly didn't expect to see something that good after watching the anime.

A real masterpiece...

Must Watch!!! No spoilers
rutsellmoradel30 November 2019
The reason I would rate this movie either a 9 or 10 is because of the way they were able to implement the idea of time travel in a way where it's original and not an overly predictable clitche. The movie caused the viewer to feel a variety of feelings due to the protagonist choices and the events that have occurred. The movie is a spectacular representation and inspiration for other movies to use an idea and make it unique in a sense. I would highly recommend any anime watcher or honestly anyone to watch this movie because of touching and complex the story is told through the protagonist point of view. However, I would recommend new anime watchers or others to watch season one of Bunny Girl Senpai because it would give them a little more insight on who the characters are and there relationship with the protagonist. Furthermore, you'll be able to truly understand and have a better experience after watching the first season then going onto the movie.

A top notch addition to the series!
Reckno645 October 2019
If you liked the series, you'll love this movie! It's another hit for animated movies this year! CloverWorks does a great job animating everything wonderfully in 2-D. I only wish more movies were animated in 2-D AND got theatrical releases. Even if a short release, this movie was worth seeing it on one of the two days it was in theaters in my town!

One thing to note, there are several moments that tug at your heartstrings. Not surprising from an anime movie, but be prepared to cry a few times. I was sure ready to burst into tears a few times, so you may need tissues!

As far as animated movies I've seen this year, this one is also a solid 10/10! I can't think of any real problem I had with it other than that it was pretty confusing at times (but that can be applied to the anime itself). This movie is up there with Toy Story 4, Steven Universe: The movie, and How to Train your Dragon 3 for best animated movie! Sadly we all know it won't get any nomination, (I mean, neither will the SU movie) but it certainly deserves it. :)

I enjoyed it so much more than I did the series
isaacsundaralingam30 June 2021
One of the main reasons I didn't find the series all that interesting is its lack of any actual conflict and no real stakes. That is not the case here, as what seemed like it was just an additional episode of the series when it started, begins to actually descend more deeper into a very interesting and heartfelt storyline by the second half. The tensions were thick and the conflicts had real stakes and it made the overall experience all the more enjoyable.

Preidctable, Intresting, Something New
schanzaysohail11 May 2021
To be honest for me this movie was better than the show... The show was also very nice but it was kinda boring and they kept adding unnecessary and uninteresting details. They kept over-using the same concept over and over again. But this movie was something new... Yeah the same characters, yeah the same scratch and Shoko and Mai fighting over who's gonna be Suta's girlfriend but this movie showed us a new side of Shoko and a new side of Mai we didn't know existed besides that it was very predictable, you could guess what was gonna happen next half the time but at least it wasn't as boring as the show and i didn't want to top watching in the middle..

Too much tears and too much tragic
bratislavrakovic26 July 2021
At the beginning, it would be fair to give a context and to explain from which perspective I watched the movie.

First of all, it should be mentioned that I have not watched the series. Fans of the series know characters and plot better, so for them it probably evokes charm of the series.

Secondly, I really enjoy in slice of life anime and generally prefer anime movies over series. For my taste, series in overall last for too much time (if you combine all episodes) and insist on emotions "at every corner" i.e. They try to provoke public's emotions several times during an episode. It simply isn't my cup of tea. I like a gradual build-up during a 1-2 hrs long movie that eventually contains 1-2 moments which give me goosebumps. And I like goosebumps provoked by a high-quality storyline, moment, frame, sound, not by tragedies, tears and similar unpleasant things.

If I had to explain the movie in just a few words, that would be - too intense.

As somebody that is not into the series, it was difficult at start to understand what happens - what is the main idea, what different form of a same person means, relations between characters, etc. While I like mind-blowing movies in general (not only anime) and although I eventually understood everything mentioned above, it was simply to intense for me, in a sense that scenes, events and emotions were so fast paced. Like the whole movie is packed with too much of "action", too much of intense scenes, emotions and tragedies. That did not evoke emotions that I like in slice of life animes - a feeling that mixes anime story with my real life experience, positive and nostalgic thoughts, smile and melancholy... On the other hand, abundance of tears and tragic scenes activated my defense mechanisms so I reacted with strange combination of ambivalence and (creepy) laugh, while I had been thinking throughout the movie that I expected something else.

Once again, I'm deeply sorry if I disturbed hardcore fans with such a point of view. :) If you liked the series and like this type of anime in overall, then I guess you should give it a try.

That one hurt really badly...in a good way?
martinwasdeleted19 February 2021
I can only say this straight: This movie is f*king painful. But still, it's even better than the first season of the anime. The movie uses its characters the same perfect way as the show, but still gave something more to them. The plot is confusing as hell but still followable. If you loved the show, you will love the movie even more. Trust me.

The only thing that made me cry ( in fact, a lot of times even more than I can count )
burak_sorf25 March 2020
*infinity symbol* out of 10 ... This is the best thing I have ever watch and I strongly recommend it. The fact that average user rating is 7.8/10 is really a dissappointment. Voting under 10 is a treason to the creators of this movie/series.They dont deserve it folks. You need to reflect before you vote....

Personal Favorite
bryces-4444022 October 2019
I'm not sure what to say except that I like this movie. I know it's not perfect, as i has problems with pacing due to it being adapted from two whole novels rather then one. What is even more frustrating however is how easily these problems could have been fixed by extending the ninety minute movie by about fifteen or even just ten minutes, or maybe even just releasing the story as episodes in the show. I also understand that some people are not fans of the last third and general finale which I won't spoil, but personally it didn't bother me very much as I felt like the ending accomplished what it set out to do. The same thing can really be said for the film really, it does have some minor faults but it accomplishes exactly what it needs to and hits just the right notes at the right time, at least in my opinion. The film does more than just redeem its faults with some very poignant scenes and all the fantastic characters we remember from the show like Sakuta and Mai, although some of the others surprisingly doesn't get as much screen time as I would have liked due to the short length of the film. In the end however, the film really does strike a chord with me, even if it did feel like it struggles with certain elements at times. Its very difficult to discuss the films minor flaws without spoilers, so instead I will now get into the positives.

Even though it seems as though I've been hard on this film up until now, it should be obvious that I did really like it. Like I said, the characters you loved from the show are still here and they're still great. the voice acting is pretty on point and the soundtrack is still quite good. One common criticism as before mentioned is the pacing: with the film being forced to adapt two books in one film. I understand why they did this however, as if they had only adapted one of the novels in this movie, then it would have been pretty underwhelming/unsatisfying. And even though the pacing could feel a little off at times, either moving a little too fast or a little too slow, the story hits all the right notes an really does accomplish what it set out to do: be really really emotional and make a bunch of grown men cry. In all seriousness I really did like the narrative and an perfectly willing to overlook some of it's imperfections. Not everyone feels the same way about the story however, with some people stating that they felt the plots more subjective elements were weak and generally felt negatively towards the story. While I can understand where these people are coming from, I really don't think the objective problems with the story are detrimental enough to ruin it for anyone, and its really mostly a subjective thing about how well the film connected to you or if you just didn't like some of the stories more "confusing" elements. Again, I totally get why some people might have problems with the overall story and respect their opinion, but it personally didn't really bother me at all and I really personally liked the more subjective and at times confusing elements of the plot.

In the end, this movie really connected with me. I loved the characters and liked the plot. everyone has different tastes but this one just happens to suit mine really well. I may be a bit bias as I really enjoyed the show as well (which I also highly recommend,) but I tried my best to acknowledge the film's faults. If you're at all interested, I can certainly recommend at least giving this film a shot, just be sure to watch the show first.

The only movie that made me cry
lokeshbunny22 January 2021

Way different then expected.
vincentkok-2301718 November 2020
This anime hit me on a way different level then I would have expected it to hit. Not only is this movie a good ending to the anime (of S1 will there ever be a S2) it is a good movie on its own. Ofcourse this movie is quite hard to understand when you haven't watched the anime series yet already, due to the understanding of ''The Puberty Syndrome'' I think this movie is quite enjoyable without seeing the series. I would say this movie and part of the anime would belong under: Drama, Romance and comedy. I normally never cry if it comes to series let alone anime, but this anime made me cry. And honestly I recommend this anime to everyone.

Late review
ltk-7649819 October 2019
Honestly, I'm just glad that I could watch the film. I know read the vol 9 before viewing, but the adaptation goes differently from my imagination. As a light romance comedy, it's a bit stiff to take on this heavy drama, and as usual I don't entirely get the explanations. But a lot of parts worked. Scenes still hit me. I like this. Hope the college story can come soon.

nikhilspanchal9 March 2021
I just wanted to say that this anime was worth watching because I was not willing to watch anime these days because my exams but once I thought it may be a poor story which would be boring but when I watched the anime my mind was completely changed and I thought I was going to ignore this anime but I think it was my luck that I watched. It was an amazing feeling when I watched it and I would say that the author is truly an amazing person to think of such story. And the thing that I loved most in this anime is the song that's......... "Fukashigi No Carte". After watching this anime I really felt that it emotionally touched my heart and I just wanted to say that I Love it ....sorry ... I Love it very very much.....🖤🖤

From the fans of - SEISHUN BUTA YAROU WA BUNNY GIRL SENPAI NO YUME WO MINAI..🖤🖤
