Honest portrayal of teenage trauma
dreamaninsomniac12 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is the most honest depiction of teen trauma, the heartache of first crush/kiss, the lies we tell to feel accepted or get some much needed love and attention to fill the void left by parental neglect. Really brilliantly written and portrayed by the young actors.

'Built on the carefully constructed fantasy that Getting married would prove once and for all that she was loveable' So many adults believe this fallacy, it's truly sad. Great episode! Don't listen to the haters, judge for yourself.

Captures the innocence of a first kiss and the heartache of rejection
Nadrizzle14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I personally found this episode very moving. The young actors did a great job showing the battlefield of a first love and the innocence of learning your way as a teen. The bottle rockets, sneaking around, etc., were all common things i and my friends did at that age. This episode brought up a lot of nostalgia and past heartbreaks/rejections of my own. I wasn't a huge fan of the therapist, but I do wish Darby would have continued to go back to therapy so that this didn't end up being a throwaway episode.

Boring Filler Episode
solojere4 July 2020
Anna is the only reason to watch this show and she is barely in this episode. Once again the writing is bad and all stereotypes. Also therapy is not a joke.

Flash Back that will Put you to Sleep
arfdawg-18 June 2020
Yet another exceedingly poorly written piece of garbage.

These writers need to go out to pasture and never work again. They are clueless on how to construct a story of interest.

PLEASE CANCEL THIS SHOW.

Luke Ducharme
Prismark106 December 2020
Most of the episode is in flashback when Darby was 15 years of age and gone to boarding school to get away from her parents.

There she meets her first crush Luke Ducharme who kisses her and he then later rejects her.

Darby ends up blurting out that she has cancer to a girl that Luke has also been with. The news spreads through school and Darby gets attention and sympathy but the principal realises that this is not true.

The episode is framed with the older Darby seeing a therapist, wanting to understand why her relationships fail.

You can sense the older Darby is uncomfortable with her therapist. It is also an Anna Kendrick lite episode.

On its own, this looks like a filler episode although it gives some background to Darby's teenage years. Still she is not the only teenager to be rejected.
