Overall, a great pilot episode that manages to introduce all characters in intriguing ways, by exposing some of the things that haunt them. Beautifully shot. Great acting. One of the most promissing tv shows this year.

Love Michael Shannon

Good to have a series that doesn't involve any CGI or superheroes.. just a good well acted old fashioned tv drama. Oh and Nicole Kidman's forehead does not budge an inch. Literally nothing moves on her face anymore.

Good start and build up ...

The first episode seems promising, I was hoping for a more exciting first episode though Acting is decent but the music is not up to the mark.

Loved the acting by Michael Shannon though. Would continue watching it with a hope that things should improve.

Warning: Spoilers
An interesting show. Not original, not groundbreaking, but a fun summer escape for sure.

In 10 days!

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1: Very good set-up, intriguing atmosphere, dark humored acting, funny and mysterious at the same time.

Nicole Kidman rocks as the "priestess" who would change for the better or grind their lives in 10 days!

Just not into it.

I feel like I'm missing something here since others watched this and wanted to see what came next!

I found this felt somewhat long and dull. My husband and I watched it hoping for a new show to get into but there just wasn't much to capture our interest and we couldn't help but laugh almost every time Nicole Kidman did that terrible Russian accent.

This is very heavily promoted on my Instagram account so I figured I was part of their target audience. I also liked the book and show Big Little Lies so was hopeful, though I had not read this book first.

Oh well! I won't continue the series.

Faster than the speed of smell

From the moment I started this show I was overwhelmed with a sense of boredom. There is very little action and a whole lot of dialogue. Better off moving on to something more action packed.

Weak pilot

Not sure how this has a good rating.

Characters are introduced but nothing actually happens.

Should have been cut in half and fused with episode 2.

Think the star power is what will keep people watching but if this was a new show with unknown actors it wouldn't have made it past the pilot.

Not a bad start ...

It's meant to be in California yeah (all the cars have California license plates)? But it's quite easy to see from the fauna that's it's Australia. Also, in an early scene, when the character named Lars exits the shop, the menu board is selling coffees like 'flat white' and 'mocha' - clearly shot near Sydney. Maybe near the Blue Mountains.

Bizarre and culty reminds me of other places

First off, that is not Nicole Kidman. Like Melissa McCarthy's character says, I know women like you,....not even human..." that is truth and that is def a clone. A bad one at that. She looks crazy weird. Why not just say it's in Australia instead of assuming we're all too stupid to figure it out. Seems from other reviews, we are smart enough to figure it out. Just weird overall but bored and curious to see how much weirder it gets. And somebody please feed Samara. That husk of a woman is clearly starving to death.
