Weak episode
jpismyname10 November 2019
On my "book", 7 stars is just a little above of "okay" or average. Rest in Pieces is definitely the weakest episode of this season.

Some of the acting here is a little off. The story is getting a bit predictable and dull, and it seems like the script is lazily written here. It doesn't feel AHS to me, you know what I mean? On the positive side, the cinematography is great, I love Leslie Grossman, and love the relationship of Brooke and Donna.

I wish the finale will be fantastic.

Rest in Pieces

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting at times, but overall this episode highlighted the main problem of the season: they had about 3-4 episodes of content and tried to stretch it out over a whole season.

Just a rehash of everything we've been getting for weeks on the show.

Episode was very bland compared with previous one wanted to give it 7, but for the sweet ending raised it to 8.

Once again, dumb criticism
caomorte31 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As a matter a fact ,the acting wasn't bad as you posh critics say here once again. You see,you think you're so smart and have a lot of knowledge about movies but you all seem millennial to me... This season replicates a genre and its decade. It's a tribute for gods sake and you don't get it because you didn't live it or you didn't appreciate it back then. The acting and writing seems off and bad because it's trying to copycat the way it was done in the 80's mostly with the Friday the 13th's franchise. The stories where poor and full of errors but we loved it and this season is nailing it perfectly. Like I always say: criticizing negatively is easier than making any better. Show me the art you have made .... The cast, the story, the hair, the makeup ,the tears Montana spills (I laughed every time) are part of a well-done tribute to VHS Camp Slasher . They made it cheesy on purpose , you A-holes!

4.5 out of 5 stars.

Fun thriller. The cast is great. The script and direction tries to have fun with its killing thrilling tone. Love the soundtrack.

Don't Touch Billy Idol....

Don't Say A Prayer For Me Now!!! Every movie has a Final Girl!!!

Kajagoogoo gets murdered! And Dylan Mcdermott goes nuts!!! +1Star.

Brooke and Donna Get some Eye of the Tiger.

Dylan McD is so fun in this season as the thumbless 70s guy. And since Kajagoogoo is dead, they'll be Too Shy-ing it up at Camp Redwood for all eternity. That part is so beautiful!!!!

Trevor loves Montana so much!!!

And at the end ghost Jingles brings Ghost Bobby back to Ghost Mommy. I mean how touching can you get???? 6/10.

S9.E8 - Pretty Good Episode [9/10]
panagiotis199316 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S9. E8) My Live Reaction / Review for American Horror Story Season 9 Episode 8 ''Rest in Pieces''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Brooke wants to kill Margaret. It would be better if she just started a new life. Mr. Jingles vs Ramirez, lets go. Trevor and Montana are a cute couple. All Mr. Jingles wants is to protect his son but the other ghosts don't care at all, its a bit unfair. Mr. Jingles now is with his brother and mother? That's a happy ending, I like it. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with Brooke and Donna, they are having lunch in a restaurant. Bruce ubducted Mary Kay. Bruce sticks his knife into Mary Kay's heart, she died instantly. Jingles fights with Richard, Jingles got away. Brooke and Donna tell the real Story of Camp Redwood to Stacey. Jingles stabbed down Xavier. Margaret shot down Jingles. Stacey got stabbed down by Bruce and Richard at the same time, she died instantly. Nice episode of American Horror Story Season 9, this episode was a bit better. The storyline gets further and there was much action!

Fading down the stretch
hnt_dnl8 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode confirmed my fears that the AHS writers have lost their way in the second half of the season. This awkward time jump to 1989 has introduced random new characters that add nothing to the story and have signficantly reduced the screen time of the entertaining characters from the earlier part of the season, this dumb music festival, and DAYTIME slasher scenes, because it's not like 99.9% of all slasher films actually take place at night.

This episode "Rest in Pieces" features some of the worst acting of the entire season in the form of Montana's weird and out-of-nowhere female empowerment speech (and she was batting .999 going into this episode with her zingers), Jingles' annoying holier-than-thou speechifying (remember when he was a scary, silent killer?), this atrocious new Stacy character (talk about monotone exposition), and the 2 poster children of awful acting in 1984: Chet and Donna (do people really think that this actress has actually been good this season? She says all of her lines with the believability of a log).

The 5 stars are for the great and always underrated Dylan McDermott as hilarious serial killer Bruce and his interactions with Richard Ramirez (a solid Zach Villa) and Margaret (the scene-stealing Leslie Grossman). Thankfully, a good chunk of the episode focused on this entertaining dynamic, but not enough to lift it above a 5. In particular, this episode "features" the worst ending of the entire season. With only 1 episode left, I can safely say that 1984 will not end up as in my Top 3 seasons of AHS, and I truly thought this was going to be the case at the halfway point. My, how the tables have turned in just a few episodes!

No story progress, Wonderfully directed
NaughtyPine14 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
By far the weakest episode this season. For such a short season with the most commercials of any season, we didn't need a filler episode. The music and directing was awesome though. Ramirez popping up during the lyrics of "Eye of the Tiger" match up with perfect synchronicity if you watch with subtitles. The one scene where it's an homage to Friday the 13th and the boat scene was awesome. There just wasn't any story at all. You could skip this episode and it has ZERO impact on the season. I think this was probably the worst episode of the entire series, writing wise at least.

Terrible-worse than terrible. Dire.
alchemist-8184810 November 2019
The "acting" was pathetic throughout this season-acting, directing, writing were just pathetic. Even John Carroll Lynch and Dylan McDermott couldn't save this tripe. After the last two seasons-only useful for deleting, they were so awful- I hoped that maybe AHS might possibly return to something resembling the excellence of Murder House. I was so wrong! Perhaps Murphy and Falchuk have run out of ideas. Perhaps they should sack the writers. They should definitely get the best actors back. Bates, Lange, Peters-along with Lynch and McDermott-are all so good that they elevate even the worst crap into something watchable. And let's face it: AHS has gone to crap.

Heavy Handed Social Bigotry.
MrSpork8 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Billie Lorde who plays the character Montana is revealed to everyone as a person who was the girlfriend of the serial killer known as the night stalker. Because of this she feels guilty and dumps an endless barrage of complaints all over a character who accepts her for who she is. And it is endless complaints about how the world (especially) men) feel about women and how they treat women. All of it has nothing to do with the scene and everything to do with the Warriors who created and ruined this series time and time again... I suggest they stick to horror,. which there is too little of and that they could usually do a better job of. And add unneeded filler to sweets like Twinkies.
