The sky begins to darken

Until Part 5 I felt like I'd bee plodding through a rather grim drama series, but this really turned things around and now things are starting to get exciting.

Micheal has to deal with a blackmailer who seems to have a lot of dirt in his son, set against the backdrop of an emergency vet visit for his ailing dog. He encounters a series of difficulties throughout adding to the rising tension

Meanwhile we see a New Orleans style funeral for the Jones family with young Eugene Jones leading the procession. Later at a gathering at his new home at BIg Mo's, he proves his loyalty to the Desire crew and things may be looking up. Later Big Mo meets with Jimmy Baxter and informs him that it could not have been Kofi who murdered their son. With new evidence to consider Jimmy goes into full investigative mode.

During the episode, we see Adam now at a coffee shop have yet another chance encounter with Fia Baxter who remembers him. The two talk and seem to be hitting it off setting up a possible Montague-Capulet style finish.

Finally, we see the Baxters stumble upon new evidence which leads them yet closer to discovering who was truly behind their sons death. With the Baxters close on their heals, while being squeezed by an unknown assailant Micheal is being pressed from both sides and things are indeed getting interesting.

Well done. 8/10.

A favourite so far

Wow what an episode bringing back to memories of the best tv show of all time Breaking Bad. The pacing of this episode is marvellous, I had a break after episode four and was wondering whether I'd make it to the end without losing interest, surely now this confirms any doubts.

Okay so firstly Judge Michael wants to get back to normal however we all know there is no going back there is only survival. His son Adam builds a connection with the daughter of Jimmy Baxter, yes I know dangerous territory. A war is on the horizon between The Baxter's as Desire meets with them to claim Kofi's innocence. All whilst Michael is being blackmailed by somebody who claims to know the truth.

Script wise so far I think every episode has had something compelling to offer, I rate this series highly I'm just hoping some of the scepticism around the ending doesn't totally ruin what has come before. I don't always have an issue with whether or not it's plausible so long as it feels right and seems to work. We watch shows to escape reality, not join it. Cinematography has been great alongside some fantastic performance. Obviously I'll write a full review once completing season one.

Interesting episode, but the runtime needs to be cut a bit. It just feels like every episode drags and drags.

Part Five

The heat is on the judge. Someone knows what his son Adam has done and Michael Desiato is now being blackmailed.

Jimmy Baxter and his family now believe that they have some consolation in having taken revenge against the family that killed his boy.

Only to be told that Kofi Jones was not responsible. They now restart their enquiries and it brings them closer to the judge.

I did wonder why the Baxters needed to be told this. It would likely to lead to more people dying, especially as Kofi's family now have a revenge plot of their own.

As for Judge Desiato. When the heat is on, someone might have broken into his home, Adam not answering his phone. He ends up caring more about his dog.

So let's get this straight. You now think that a sadistic mob boss is aware that your son was responsible for his son's death. Your son is not answering his phone. Your house has been broken into so your son, who is suspended from school, could well have been kidnapped by said mob boss. But hey, the dog is poorly so let's drop everything and go and wait in the vets??? WTF???

Some good performances but so many really annoying plot lines.

REality Check-5th review

Warning: Spoilers
Well, things get done fast on this show. Second autopsy? Could take a while. And why the interest in solving the case of her client getting murdered in the first place. Surely as a public defender she has 100 clients. Why not give to the cops to investigate instead of going Nancy Drew. Mob boss meeting? Just make a phone call- why go there? Someone breaks in your house and leaves the door open in broad daylight and the judge thinks they are still there? That's some pretty good sneaking around putting phones in judges desks and breaking into their houses? Doesn't court houses have cameras? Don't judges homes have security cameras? Why? Did they poison the dog or did he just happen to flip out at the same time there was a break in? Quite the coincidence I'd say. Millionaire judge can't raise 200 k cash? Seems a stretch. Well, good acting this episode. Really not much happening though. Could have put all that into half the time. I'll give it a 5 for good acting. Hope it (the writing) gets better.
