As a filmmaker myself, I know first hand how difficult it is to make a good short film. You are cooking with the same ingredients as you would with any length of film, you just have less of everything; less time, fewer resources and smaller budgets. This makes it extremely challenging to create a good short film.
That being said, I thought Rejects had some moments with solid acting, especially with Honda King and Austin Buchanan.
Technically I thought the film was lacking, but this is par for the course with most short films; trying to do more with less is the name of the game when playing in this arena. I also felt there were some key moments that the filmmakers could have taken more time with, or in a couple instances were not included. Maybe they were filmed but left on the cutting room floor?
Overall, performances are the best thing going for this film. It's also worth mentioning that bad sound is not uncommon in short films, and I could clearly hear 99% of this film, so kudos there.
