Stop hating people!
shilkmake-1115314 May 2019
Long story short, I don't know the main actor or his previous shows. As an Aussie, I'm also not a huge fan of American humour which is often hit-and-miss for me. Not the comedy's fault, of course, just a preference thing on my part.

Anyway, I watched this show with very little expectation, especially after the stream of very low reviews. I was therefore pleasantly surprised as I laughed my head off for the majority of episode one.

Is it silly? Yes. Is it immature? Yes. Is it utter nonsense? Yes. But, is it straight up funny? Yes! Take it for what it is; the moron at the job interview or the horrible friend at the birthday party. And watch out for Turbo Team and their joke toilet, I thought that was hilarious.

Throw it on, switch off your 'inner adult' and just enjoy the stupidity.

I'm so happy this show exists.

Sketches follow a pretty predictable formula: a group of adults, one of them is acting crazy, either the bystanders join in unexpectedly or people are turned off by the craziness. Its predictable so why did I give it a 9? Because the formula works. The sketches are well written, the characters are quirky enough to seem realistic but so ridiculous that it gives you those uncomfortable laughs. I genuinely laughed out loud at a lot of these. My favorites were the song about skeletons using bones as money, you have no good car ideas, the one with poop on the receipt, and the eulogy for former baby models (because I think the host is hilarious). I'm honestly shocked how funny I found it. I'm usually not a sketch show type of person.

I can't get it out of my head

Warning: Spoilers
Comedy is polarizing. This isn't one of those "It's not as bad as other people say, I liked it!" reviews. Good and bad don't apply to this show. This is not a recommendation that will tell you you'll like it or not because I legitimately have not been able to predict it.

This show is ahead of the curve. You need to know that this show has its finger on the pulse of Millennial/Gen Z humor. For some of you, it might be exactly what you're looking for. For some, you had no idea you needed this in your life. For others, run for the hills. But you won't know til you watch it.

As for me, all I can say it that even the sketches I thought were stupid or bad, I still couldn't look away. I was always, for better or worse, interested to see where it was going, engrossed almost. And the sketches I liked? I go back to over and over and over. I can't get them out of my head. I wake up from nightmares thinking about having to marry my mother in law (you'll get the reference soon).

Either way, at the very least this show does something different. It has a distinct voice, it's weird and strange in ways you forgot were possible, and it sticks for better or worse. Give it a shot. I love it, but you may not and that's expected.

This is what SNL wishes it could be.

This is some of the most creative writing I have ever seen. The first episode caught me completely off guard. I didn't know what to expect. By episode 2 I was pausing the episode so that I wouldn't miss anything through my laughter filling the room. This is brilliant! The negative reviews on this attack unfair aspects of the show. I feel like they are written by people that didn't know it was sketch comedy. Check it out and let your hair down! Allow the show to just be what it is. Don't have expectations and enjoy the ride! I love this show.

Funniest Show on Netflix
rohandua-5065227 April 2019
This show is actually crazy. Sketch comedy at its very best even though there is no recognizable running theme throughout all the episodes. Its completely random and that is what makes this show very funny. Vanessa Bayer and Will Forte absolutely nail their sketches.

Confusing, strange and even, occasionally, funny.
planktonrules2 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson" is an incredibly difficult show to describe or review. It's a made for Netflix series that is 16 minutes per episode and is supposed to be a comedy but to me it feels more like performance art that is sometimes funny. Unlike most comedy variety shows, this one takes normal enough seeming skits and takes them in strange surreal directions...directions that are impossible to predict and often leave you confused and weirded out. When it works, it's brilliant...though often it really doesn't work. Overall, a show that is great for SOME people. You have to be kind of twisted and odd and have a high willingness to watch a show that will likely leave you confused. Strange...but original.

May Be the Hardest I've Ever Laughed
bigbadbassface16 May 2019
The dialogue, his face, and and the physical comedy blend together to make a perfectly hilarious show. Even the parts that are awkward and seem to drag result in a perfect payoff. I just wish there were more episodes. Went back and watched Detroiters to get my fix and it was really funny too. Can't believe I've never heard of Tim Robinson but I'm an instant fan

An unbelievable... thing. It kinda grew on me.
Luiselclapperloader19 July 2021
The first time i saw this i thought it was so insanely devoid of human comprehension i hated it. Days go by and then i figured out... that i couldn't get my mind off it. Season 2 came by and now it's official. I need more of these. There is nothing as overwhelmingly odd as this- something that just happens on these deranged sketches and things your brain can't fathom to even register as "funny" and yet, you still can't look away. What a piece of work. I still understand nothing at all, but now it makes me laugh at the face of madness.

Ignore Critics and 1 star reviews
ray_mcmullen5 May 2019
People seem to not understand this is a comedy, simple skit show with different subjects. Not some in-depth deep storyline that circles around to its main thesis blah blah... if you watch it as a comedy like you should you will enjoy it. It is funny as well as stupid and immature , as is comedy itself. Movie 43 was a good comparison. Some skits are dumb, some are not funny just like all comedies. Ignore the 1 reviews, Sharknado gets a 2-3.. People like to be condescending about shows like this because it makes them feel smart, yet they are cynical and probably find a hard time finding anything funny. Don't take show serious, it is comedy, and a good one.

What am I not getting?
scattiee-113 June 2023
When I first started watching this, I thought it was going to be one of those programs that you just need to give time, but half way through season 2 I've come to realise that it is awful.

I like a range of humour and I can switch off my inner adult but I don't think there is anything that could make me enjoy this.

Perhaps I've been spoilt by great British comedy but if this is the best that America can offer in 2023 then I think I'll just pass.

I don't think I can even make this review stretch to the minimum amount of characters it is asking for because there simply isn't anything to say about it apart from find something better to do in the (thankfully short) 15 minute it is on.

Detroiters Represent!
gmorri424 April 2019
Tom Robinson is odd and hilarious. If you are a fan of him, you may not like/get this. I loved Detroiters and think it's a crime it didn't get more eps. Seeing Sam Richardson on this was a treat. There are tons of cameos from great comic actors. Anything that has Fred Willard will always get a thumbs up from me. This is quirky, uncomfortable comedy sketches in the style you would expect from Tim. I was so excited when I saw this in my Netflix queue today and I wasn't disappointed. If you like oddball, strange and uncomfortable comedy with twists and turns, you like this.

What a CROP.
owen-watts28 October 2021
I'd been a massive fan of Detroiters so was deeply into the idea of Tim Robinson getting let loose on his own sketch show. What you get here is an ever-intensifying doubling down on a very specific type of humour. Specifically, his. Dotted with some brilliant guest appearances and never quite ending where you expect it to - this is a show that delights in wrong-footing you. Tripping you up, freaking you out. The best sketches revolve around the evergreen "a person's full refusal to face up to the reality of what they've done" schtick and it works beautifully. I see memes of this all over the shop and I've even heard of folk going back to seek out Detroiters which is glorious - I'm glad it's finally brought him a big audience and proof, if proof is needed, that doubling down on your own humour (which ironically is based itself on doubling down) is double down... wait what am I saying. I don't even know. Stop looking at me.

Funny to a new level of belly laughing.

Almost every sketch had me belly laughing so hard that I had to pause the show so I could catch up. There is no way anybody in their right mind would cancel the show it is so good.

How the hell can anyone find this funny. Ten of us watched the first five and that's all we could stomach. How on earth did celebraties agree to this unless they did not read the script... I see 10 star reviews why??? What the hell is wrong with the world. This is not comedy. My 9 year old comes out with way more stomach curling jokes and ideas than this achieves. If it is for the looks on people's faces er maybe a. Point 5 star rating as they look a bit errrrm. But nope, don't waste your time or money if that's the only reason you subscribed. It is utterly atrocious.

Hit and miss, but worth it overall
kaideneve2 June 2023
I just finished watching the 3rd season, and I feel that there is a lot of inconsistency in the skits throughout the whole series so far. Season 1 had a few bangers that had me rolling. I honestly didn't even finish season 2 though, it just seemed to repeat the same formula of trying to force a comedic situation around a spastic, overreacting dude.

Like look at how angry and socially oblivious/awkward this guy can be... Har har. It's funny the first couple of times, but it gets tired after a while. Not everything has to be gold, but some skits were just so annoying with the way they try to force an unfunny character or premise that I actively skipped them.

That said, there are certainly some really funny skits thrown in there too, and most of the ones with the guest stars are gold. I think the writers did a really good job at playing to each guest's comedic strengths.

Overall it's a good watch, and you can easily just skip the annoying ones which are normally identifiable within the first few mins. I would love to see more sketch comedy shows, so this is a welcome addition.

Tim and Eric meets Mr. Show and Movie 43.

It is definitely not for everyone but if you like awkward, raunch, and weird, this is for you. Put this is firmly in the "absurd sketch show" bin and get to streaming.

Funny Sketch Show, Too Bad About Tim Robinson Being In It...
ChimonMonkee23 April 2019
I want to start by saying that the show is funny. It's random, outrageous and unpredictable.I didn't always know where a sketch was going to go. Unfortunately several sketches fall flat or just don't have the conclusion that get you excited at the end for or give you a feeling of comedic satisfaction.

The acting by several performers felt awkward and odd. I think it might have been that they just couldn't stop laughing on set and just ran out of energy so they made the best of the footage they had, which is really lazy.

Now,about Tim Robinson. Hes okay. Just screams a lot and is loud. That's his "thing" and that's about it. He is a talented writer along with his writer partner. The comedy is strong and made me laugh out loud at times, but that stopped often when Tim appeared in the scene and gave his big punchline. Hes just one note and I felt no charisma from him like some comedic actors like Jordan Peele or Dave Chappelle. You want to laugh with them and at them. With Tim I just didn't laugh at all.

The show has potential. I would recommend toning down Tim's personality and let him explore unique and different characters rather then the same character performing in a different setting. Since he is the central actor in the show, and I would like to see him again, just give him something else to do, let him be something other than Tim Robinson ya know?

To conclude, I would like to see this show again, just with a different approach to the comedy and storytelling. There were really funny sketches that had me rolling but I noticed that Tim wasn't in any of the them and that is probably the shows greatest weakness. His characters and personality are going to polarize a lot of viewers, which I think is really unfair to the talented writers and production crew who made this show possible.

TLDR; Funny show with unique sketches which are enhanced by Tim Robinsons SNL buddies. Too bad Tim Robinson gets in the way of a lot of the good sketches.

Constantly repeats a mildly funny joke
mghbrb7 July 2021
Every skit is this guy becoming inappropriately and irrationally upset at something. I really enjoyed the first skit or two, but it became increasingly obvious that this show has one or two jokes that they repeat through convoluted set ups.
