Half Decent for a B Western
csparty-780982 October 2020
Ok so here is the deal. It is a low budget modern B Western. It is one that is watchable. No your not going to be blown away. The acting is ok at best, action scenes mostly fairly poor and any of the movie shot indoors is downright sub par even for a B movie. Now the good news. The plot is pretty simple yet compelling, there are some very hot gals in the film, there are some really nice outdoor shots and there are some decent old school musical scores. If you are fan of Westerns I would say this is worth the 85 minutes - this is surely in the top tier of the B westerns - even if thats not saying a whole lot.

Once Upon a Time in the Bronzi
BandSAboutMovies13 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A notorious gunslinger is slipped a slow-acting poison by an heiress and told he has three days to track down and rescue her sister, who has been kidnapped by a band of hoodlums if he wants the antidote. Is this an Escape from New York sequel? No, it's the latest Robert Bronzi film. Yes - Robert Bronzi, who was in Death Kiss, an attempt to create a modern Death Wish.

Jeff Miller, who was also behind The Toybox, said of the film, "If you liked Death Kiss, you'll love Bronzi again delivering his brand of justice. We filmed at recognizable locations where Bronson stood 50 years ago on the classic Once Upon a Time In the West, and I can't wait for fans to check out this latest chapter in our series of films with Bronzi." The movie was filmed in California as well as in Western Leone, near Almeria, Spain, where the famous Leone film was also made.

Bronzi plays The Colonel, who as was discussed above, is hired by Ursula in the hopes of rescuing her sister from the pimp Swearengen, who is played by Michael Pare (Streets of Fire). He does a good job of playing the mysterious tough guy and this film feels like an improvement over the last one I saw him in, Death Kiss.

It's a pretty audacious title, though, taking from Tarantino, referencing Leone and then casting aspersions to the HBO series that just had a movie of its own. That's a lot of borrowed interest.

That said, if you rented a lot of Cannon knockoffs in the 1980's, you'll be happy with what this movie is. I'm not a fan of digital shot films as much as the good old fashioned movies, but this was an entertaining watch.

Somewhat Cliched Western
geodesic_eye3 October 2019
Robert Bronzi is a surrogate Charles Bronson and multitalented multilinquist. Having said that, his movie here is an enjoyable enough timewaster. If you have time to waste you'll maybe enjoy this somewhat cliched western?

This woman could be trouble
nogodnomasters12 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There is nothing like a Rene Perez film except another Rene Perez film. Rene has been providing work for Robert Bronzi, a Charles Bronson look-alike, who can't act. In fact, he has trouble with English. He this film he plays a poisoned Colonel who must save Ursula's (Karin Brauns) sister who has the antidote. He has to kill folks along the way. Nothing much to see.

Guide: No sex. brief nudity (Katin Brauns). No swearing that I recall.

What a waste
professorjeffreypbrown10 April 2020
Stopped about 15 minutes in. The dialogue is just as bad as the acting. My kids put on a better performance in the back yard. I did have a good laugh, though.

Why does Perez get such praise?
malhaas-jacobsz6 December 2019
Every Rene Perez film so far is low budget, terribly written, riddled with editing mistskes, and have the crappiest actors money can't buy. Just stop.

Pretty much a standard Western through and through...
paul_haakonsen10 November 2021
Right, let's just be honest, you sit down to watch "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" simply because actor Robert Bronzi is an almost dead ringer for Charles Bronson.

For a Western movie like the 2019 "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood", then I have to say that writers Rene Perez and Jeff Miller actually managed to churn out a fair enough storyline. Sure, it wasn't the most riveting of storylines, as it was rather simplistic. But its simplicity actually makes sitting through the movie rather easy; you just switch off your brain, lean back and enjoy the movie.

Sure, there are far better Western movies out there, because "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" isn't exactly a ground-breaking movie in the Western genre. But chances are that if you enjoy the archetypical Western movies, then you will also enjoy "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" from director Rene Perez.

The acting performances in "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" were adequate. You are not in for any award-winning performances when you sit down to watch a movie like "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood", and that is a given fact.

I found "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" to be watchable, albeit not a particularly memorable or outstanding Western.

My rating of "Once Upon a Time in Deadwood" lands on a mediocre five out of ten stars.

What a waste of time. Bad actress casting, mediocre actors
panda-763712 October 2020
Terrible acting paired with Bronzi. The all blonde cast of females showed no talent with the exception of Karin Brauns who was mediocre. Low budget actresses for a low budget film. Matheis didn't add much either. Boring, overplayed plot. Don't waste your time.

Shocking Acting. Also one of the first things I noticed is they used Phillips head screws in the table or stool the lady was standing on when the bandit was trying to hang her. Phillips head screws weren't invented until 1930's!!!

Don't bother Warning: Spoilers
I wouldn't even make my dog watch this. Awful acting. And I'm not sure what the deal is but the first 5 minutes there's a girl hanging on the gallows and the rope is slack. To screw up something so simple...

Rene Perez does justice to Westerns
shagee797726 October 2019
Writer/ Director Rene Perez brings us ONCE UPON A TIME IN DEADWOOD. The explosive new revenge western feature starring Robert Bronzi (recent hit DEATH KISS) and Michael Pare (STREETS OF FIRE). Robert Bronzi has been poisoned and has three days to retrieve the antidote. The twist is he has the task of rescuing his kidnapped sister who has the antidote. Bronzi is the tough guy lil words gunslinger and legendary actor Michael Pare is the villain. The movie is a salute to Charles Bronson. A little trivia some scenes were shot at Western Leone. That's near Almeria, Spain, were Most of the filming of the famous Sergio Leone/Charles Bronson western ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST was shot. The movies retro look made you believe it was actually Charles Bronson. Bronzi is not Imitating he is Bronson. He is a awesome actor with incredible screen presence and from the first time I saw him in Death Kiss I want more. The camera work and music just adds more to an all ready fun movie. I am a big fan of westerns but even if your not this is such a fun time you will be wanting more even when the end credits roll. I hope for a sequel and glad filmmakers Take there time to make truly Cinematic masterpieces like this to entertain the fans of this genre. So much detail and dedication went into this. Along with a supporting cast this is a solid movie and definitely worth the rental or purchase The cast is rounded out with Karin Brauns (PLAYING WITH DOLLS series), Lauren Compton (CLOWNTOWN), actor-model Chris Matteis, J.D. Angstadt, Jose Varela Garcia, Justin Hawkins, Tony Jackson, and Sierra Sherbundy.

Jeff Miller (who produced the recent DEATH KISS, which Perez directed, as well as the recent thriller THE RUSSIAN BRIDE) is producing with Ronnie D. Lee (THE TOYBOX, OUIJA HOUSE) through their companies Millman Productions and Ron Lee Productions, respectively.

You could do worse
welambert0113 March 2024
The thumbnail I thought I was looking at Charles Bronson from his Heartbreak passage Western era. Deeper examination proved not be Bronson. What the heck? The usual plot: Girl kidnapped sold into prostitution. Will she be rescued before her honor is sullied? It had a couple interesting twist. The acting was tolerable. The finale took me for a loop. If DEI was a Western? All and all, you have a need for mindless entertainment, you could do worse? Think True Grit with human trafficking. I will credit the women are pleasant to look at, minor T&A, I found myself caring about the actors. The down side: The antagonist should have been more ruthless. It sounds odd. How twisted your mind? You can empathize with his plight. It hard out here being a pimp.😄😄😄

For fans who miss Charles Bronson.
tyroniusmaximus200515 March 2021
It's a B Rated film, what do you expect? Not the best Western film that I have ever seen, but I can appreciate the effort. I am betting that the producer is thinking that the Charles Bronson look can take it over the top. Good scenes, and some good camera shots, but could have been edited better. Pretty decent and acceptable for what the movie really is.

What a waste of time.
wiebejosh16 June 2020
I felt I had to review this movie, which I have never done before, just in case it would stop somebody from watching it. Do not waste your time on this movie. The worst part flip flops from the acting to the dialogue. the soundtrack isn't horrible and kind of saves you throughout the movie. The director absolutely love slow motion, and there are only so many times you going to watch a guy jump off a rock in slow motion

at least the ending is marginally okay and that's the only reason I gave it two Stars.

Do not watch this movie terrible.

Who even watches Perez's "movies" anymore?
MovieFan0011212 January 2020
The only people who watch a Rene Perez movie are horny teenagers eager to see some poor actress who got duped into playing a part in these movies' boobs. All the films suck. Just stay away!

Crappy wannabe Western
pjb856722 January 2024
Even with a fake Charles Bronson look-alike and an accent to try to sound like him. It's about as badly acted and written as can be found. Don't waste your time with this one. It's hard not to laugh at the acting, it's just so awful.
