Hair or no Hair. It reminds you that good people end up with good people, always.
Tejas_Vinda_AITS29 March 2019
Diagnosed with alopecia at 15, Siliguri girl Enakshi Dasgupta's (Shweta Tripathi) biggest fear is losing her hair. Her self esteem and confidence takes a beating as her visible bald patches start drawing unnecessary attention at school. Her hair loss becomes a subject of concern for her parents and mockery for classmates. Enakshi's rare condition not only hampers her peace of mind but also supposedly sabotages her marriage prospects.

Most girls often grow up on Disney fairytales, romantic movies and Barbies - all of which define women's beauty in a certain way. Fair and flawless skin, slender waist, long legs, petite frame and gorgeous hair. Even actresses who don't meet this checklist, aren't really in the 'mainstream'. Those who do, are worshipped and desired.

Our race to fit in begins right from our childhood. The society sets unrealistic standards of beauty and women must live upto those expectations. If you don't, you are considered unworthy of success, love or marriage. Enakshi's hair-loss sucks the happiness out of her life.

Her simple parents are willing to do anything for her hair regrowth treatment and a guy quietly nurses feelings for her. But can Enakshi free herself from wallowing in self pity?

Qasim Khallow's film is a heartwarming tale of conquering fear, crushing societal standards of beauty and exploring the parent-child bond. The film is most relatable for women, who are conditioned to believe that they ought to be perfect if they wish to 'bag a good husband'.

Gone Kesh primarily works owing to its great casting. Shweta Tripathi portrays the trauma of her condition in the most real, understated manner.

Vipin Sharma and Deepika Amin are every bit the loving and supportive parents who sacrifice their own needs and wishes for their child. They believe in their daughter when she herself gives up. Jitendra Kumar is perfect as the shy love interest, who loves Enakshi just the way she is. A scene where he happens ho see her without her wig plays out brilliantly.

Despite the film's slow pace, this one's a winner - hair or no hair. It also reminds you that good people end up with good people, always.

Great movie with fabulous actors
shailymittal12 December 2019
I am really surprised how movies like Ujda Chaman and Bala gets so much publicity and these movies doesn't get any attention. Loved the movie and acting of all the main characters (very realistic) I love how Shweta Tripathi easily fits as a school kids as well as a grown-up.

excellent performances
beevenkat29 March 2019
In #GoneKesh, the young heroine starts losing hair suddenly n rapidly. One doctor suggests that she should eat carrots n eggs daily. Another doctor prescribes steroids, but this leads to hair growth in wrong places. Finally, after discovering true love, she accepts her baldness n decides to face the world bravely. Competent direction by #Qasimkhallow n excellent performances by tripathi, sharma, amin. The family scenes r very well depicted. Watch it. Rating 3/5.

Great acting in a heartwarming story.
ashishnav198930 March 2019
What a beautiful film this is. Set in small town of Siliguri, the movie brilliantly captures the simplicity and challenges of a small town. No unwanted masala or melodrama, very real life portrayal where all characters get a space to be explored by audience. All the actors in the movie show their command over the craft with brilliant performances. The background score is good but some moments deserved better music. Overall, its a brilliant film and deserves a watch.

Fantastic movie
adhikariprashamsa1 July 2022
I watched this movie today i youtube for free and I swear the time I spent here are one of the best time I spent for any movies. The inspiration at the end is the main power of the movie. No one is perfect just learn to be yourself. The acting, direction, plot all are upto the point and showcasing the societal thoughts to premature baldness in women is the major strength of this movie.

A Touching Tale of Inner Acceptance
mbhaswar1 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Once in a way a movie touches the core of your soul without creating any ripples on the surface. No rants and raves, no nerve jarring jingoism, no attempts at shock and awe, no melodrama. Not even when the basic premise of a teenager with dreams in her eyes is afflicted by alopecia which requires her parents to subsume their own dreams to resurrect her future. Not when the basic premise of a tear-jerker would tempt the cast and crew. Director and writer Quasim Khallow writes and helms a tender tale, shorn of all trappings and set in the idyllic small city of Siliguri. Enakshi, essayed brilliantly by Shweta Tripathi, who looks equally comfortable in her school uniform as she does in her saleswoman's attire, suffers from alopecia, an autoimmune disease which causes her to lose all her hair over time. The discovery and the manner in which Enakshi's simple family (Vipin Sharma and Deepika Amin supporting beautifully as her parents) accept the intrusion of this disease into their modest lives and deal with it, forms the crux of the engaging story. Notwithstanding their meagre means and all attendant social taboos, centred around efforts to find Enakshi a bridegroom, the stoicism yet positivity with which the family soldiers on, makes for a heartwarming watch. Jitendra Kumar who plays Enakshi's beau will win you with his understated performance in his unconditional support and love for Enakshi. The only weak point in the screenplay is that although Enakshi's sole passion is dancing, we get to see very little of it. The strong social message that we are limited by our acceptance of ourselves and not what the world expects will give you much food for thought. It is indeed wonderful to see such movies jostle for their own rightful place in the industry and their efforts need our wholehearted support. A must watch.

Nice Movie but over the top ending
naxus_nkt24 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Beautiful movie but the ending was just really over the top. The director should think if he had a bald mother then what his life be like ? I believe his n his siblings n father life would have been a nightmare with a bald mother outdoor as people will always took photograph there would have been a lough at their expense n the children life at school would have been a hell as the other kids would have always tease them about that. Otherwise the movie was really great from the lead actress to the supporting cast they were all just marvelous

One-Line Review: Gone Kesh / Average Drama About Hair Loss / 5 Stars
nairtejas2 May 2020
Make no mistake when I say that Gone Kesh (Hair Gone) brought a smile to my face as I watched the main character realize her hair loss condition in a small-town setting but then the message that I received at the end was mixed and damp and sermonic. TN.

auttarwars19 November 2019
It is a underrated movie. One of the best films of bollywood. Movies made on real issues never get appreciated as much as they need. This film should be in list of best must watch bollywood movies of this decade.

Enjoyed it!
newmoon-7800616 July 2020
A simple story! A simple movie! However, selection of characters very pertinent to the story, filming those characters with some infamous, yet very talented, actors, and finally the very message of the story of the movie - I AM AS I AM - made this movie a good one.

Simple and Beautiful
rviswam22 June 2023
Simple but a very relatable story that can be watched with your kids and family. If you have teen or pre-teen daughter, it is definitely worth the watch. While Hollywood, Bollywood movies type cast the beauty in a certain way, kids form a certain opinion about "beauty" and build their confidence around that. Brilliant acting by the lead artists. You can easily relate to the girl, her parents and the boyfriend. Even the smaller characters like the mall manager, friend, doctor - all are shown genuine. No over emotions. Music is good too.

Only downside - narration is a bit slow and moves in a very predictable path with no significant ups / downs.

Summary - A must watch movie with family - drama genre.

Great effort
mailsandypal27 June 2022
Although there are other technical aspects too...but one thing stands out. Your courage in making project..and taking "not so popular" actors. It's really good and needed. Amazing work. 2 stars extra for the efforts.

Simple and heartwarming
spicavega25 May 2022
A very innocent and simple story, it portrays the lives of lower middle class Indians well. Jitendra Kumar and Shwetha Tripathi have already proved their fantastic acting skills in the past, so this combination worked really well, I can see them as a couple in more movies. Overall the movie also has a great message.
