The Set Up
Prismark1029 October 2023
This is very much a rehash of the Steptoe & Son episode of Upstairs, Downstairs, Upstairs, Downstairs. That was shown only two years earlier on the BBC. It might explain why all of a sudden Yus My Dear becomes funny.

Lil trips over some wires as Benny brought the portable television downstairs to watch the horse raising.

With Lil injuring her arm. Wally is serving her up with burnt food for breakfast and supper. Benny has to do all the house hold chores which means keeping the kitchen clean.

Only Wally ruins the kitchen everytime he cooks which makes Benny irate. It is his girlfriend Molly who suspects there is nothing wrong with Lil and she is trying it on.

So Benny and Molly hatch a plan to make Lil jealous. They bring round her mature friend Phyllis for a party and Wally finds her a knockout.

Some of the delivery of the lines from the regulars looks amateurish. The humour is very much the Carry On type. Mike Read manages to keep it amusing helped by Valerie Walsh and Pat Ashton as the dolly birds.

In bed with Lil!
Rabical-9116 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Lil ends up bedridden after injuring herself from tripping over a trailing television cable ( for which Benny was responsible ). While Wally is at work, Benny is forced to carry out household chores for Lil.

After a while however he becomes suspicious that she is pulling a fast one and so enlists the help of Molly and her brassy friend Phyllis to call round and try it on with Wally, knowing full well Lil will be listening and will entice her out of bed...

This third episode was the best in the first series, which almost resembles the hilarious 'Steptoe & Son' episode 'Upstairs Downstairs, Upstairs Downstairs'. The scene in which a horrified Benny sees the state Wally has left the kitchen in is truly hilarious. Of course Lil was faking her injury but then you don't need me to tell you that. Phyllis was played by the late Pat Ashton, who seemed to corner the market on playing nymphos in '70's sitcoms.

Funniest bit - Benny as I said reacting in horror when he sees the terrible mess Wally has left the kitchen in!

Second funniest bit - Wally opening up to Phyllis that he has to take Lil her breakfast, dinner and supper every day as she is unable to get out of bed. "I bet you worn out carrying that lot upstairs!" she says sympathetically. "And so must you be carrying that lot upstairs!" quips Wally as he eyes up her heaving bosom!
