Bad Acting, Cheasy Jokes, and Bad Actors/Actresses. Warning: Spoilers
I understand this show is a show for little girls. I remember when i was younger, i always watched Blues Clues and those Nickolodeon game shows such as Legends of the Hidden Temple.

This morning i turned on channel 2, and I saw Cake. I didn't know what this was at the time. I knew it was a children's show, i was curious so i continued watching it.

As i was watching it, I realized all the jokes these horrible actors said were not funny to the slightest and i cannot imagine it funny for young children. They don't give any good messages at all, forgettable characters and simply terrible story lines.

Worst Kid's TV Show, EVER
BellaAngel16 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Horrible Acting, Horrible story line, Horrible choice of actors. I saw it this morning and I was thinking "What is CBS thinking??" I mean, everything is bad. I will never watch it again. Disney original shows are a million times better.

My thoughts of the cast.

Cake: You'd think maybe she has a amazing personality? NOPE. Cake is the lead role in this TV series. She's completely forgettable. I personally don't see her as a "Leader." Her acting isn't completely bad, but I think CBS didn't choose the correct actress for that role.

Miracle: My first thought on Miracle, a Brenda Song knock off from "The Suite Life Of Zach And Cody." I don't think she's funny or talented. Again, I don't like the actors CBS picked.

The rest of the cast members aren't talented. Not funny. All are completely forgettable. I will not watch this show again.

This show will please small children who don't know there are better shows out there. I do not recommend this TV series.

Worst kids show
mollypop9221 June 2007
My question is, how on earth did Christa B. Allen win a young artist award for this show? I know these are not prestigious awards by far, but out of curiosity I checked out the other nominees... Ashley Leggat (Life with Derek), Emma Roberts (Unfabulous), Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey 101), and Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) were all up for the same title. HOW DID THIS GIRL WIN THROUGH THIS HORRIBLY ACTED/PRODUCED/DIRECTED/WRITTEN SHOW?!?!?! I'm not saying any of the nominees are fantastic actresses, but all are ten times more deserving than this girl.

I was bored on a Saturday morning so I watched Cake. I was basically laughing at and simultaneously ready to vomit at the acting. I'm a big supporter of clean kids shows, but this is so sugar coated and fake that it's hard to believe any kids could seriously find this truly entertaining. They have lowered the bar much too low here. Crazy.

This replaced Lazy Town?
moviewiz500025 November 2006
As an adult I can appreciate the attempt at healthy hints (slumber party bits) and safety ( the "Party Time" mnemonic). The problem is the execution. The scripts are not well written, or adequately articulate the moral they're attempting to communicate and the characters are not what I would consider role models I would want the girls to emulate.

The girls(7 and 11 in age) loved the previous Nick Jr line up. Neither care for the new KOL secret slumber party programs that have replaced them. In the end I find Cake virtually unwatchable and agree with the girls that there are better things to watch. Lazytown was far better produced, effectively communicated a great message, and was much more entertaining in the process. The Nick Jr shows (Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues, etc.) didn't play so heavily to gender stereotyping either.

Love the show!

Congratulations CAKE TV!

I tuned in early Saturday morning to check-out the new CBS shows and it really is nice to see that CBS is now bringing in real people to their children's morning schedule.

I particularly like the plot. Simple, clean and with a lesson that's tagged at the end and easy for my children (and maybe for all the other kids as well) to pick up. This sure promotes good child activity at home and at play.

Kudos to CBS and the folks who created the show. I will definitely tune in again with my kids and tell my family and friends about CAKE TV.

Christa Allen as Cake, great host, and a good friend to all. Keep smiling, Cake! Got to start checking my garage for things that my kids can 'change'!

Oh, and Anna Maria (long name but cute) as Miracle, she's funny and I like her role. Saw her in Hannah Montana and she can play different characters really well. Awesome job Miracle!

Keegan as Benjamin, reminds me of a young Will Smith! He's funny but I look forward to seeing what he does the next show!

And of course the cute little Emily, as Amy. Gosh, look at the energy she has!

Overall? I say 10! You've got my vote, CAKE TV! My family and I really enjoyed watching and look forward to seeing more of CAKE TV!

Here's one for the books!

It's really not that bad!
Mego_TheGreat21 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so yeah, the acting is kinda cheesy, but they're all cute, especially Amy. She's an awesome little actor and it shines through. Mirale is a cute name and I like it a lot on the show. Cake is a weird name but what can ya do; she's not the best actor but she seems to fit the part well. I also like Ben, it's cool to have him on the show and I like the way he interacts with the girls. I really like the arts and craft creative part, it brings a lot to the show and i've never really seen anything else like it out there. I'm 19 now but I know that if I saw that as a little girl I would have wanted to go out after that and be creative! I would have realized that it was cheesy but that's okay, most little kids' shows are! It's awesome and I think little girls would like this show a lot. Good job!

Cake is a feminist icon!
mrcreen5 September 2007
I am just appalled at the negative reactions here to the wonderful, highly addictive series "Cake." This show is so satisfyingly entertaining, with good messages throughout, and three powerful female actresses. Of course, there is the awful character of Benjamin played by a horrible actor, but the character of Cake is such an inspiration to people young and old! And Emily Rose Everhard as the wacky Amy is just to die for, people!! She is too funny and unlike any other child actor on television right now. I hope that "Cake" lasts ten seasons or more. I am 27 now and I still want to be watching this when I am forty years old! That may sound a little creepy, but trust me, this show is why I get out of bed on Saturday mornings!

Cake: Best New Show for Little Girls!
bubblegum82528 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, let me say that writing on this show is FAAAABULOUS! Disney's got some competition now! I found the show to be very funny. Not only is the show educational and deliciously wholesome without being too cheesy, it is smart and witty at the same time. Christa is adorable with her signature buns, Anna Maria (Miracle) is very appealing to watch, very funny, Emily is a perfect actress for Amy, and Keegan, the media mogul-like Benjamin is wonderful! Who could ask for a better cast! Even the set is adorable! I wish I had an airstream trailer like Grandma Chrystal! I am so happy that CBS has finally come out with an awesome live-action scripted show directed toward little girls! Good job, CBS! Oh yeah, and the intro song ROCKS!!!

Very good

Very good show. Teaching kids how to make numerous arts and crafts. It is explained really well, telling the audience what they need and how to make it. Also what's great about that is, they have rule know as "Party Time" which means "Permission Always Required" "Take Your Time" and "Imagination Means Everything". I was impressed by the rules because it has safety and fun in them which allows kids to have success on whatever they are making. This show inspired me to let my creativeness flow too. It is also an episode too, not just a arts and crafts show. In the episodes it features situations that can come up in all aspects of life and at the end of the day, it always leaves you with an inspirational message. Overall a fabulous show, that features situations and laughs and it always is a joy to watch.

I <3 Cake!
tvethiopia27 August 2007
Cake is completely spectacular. People who have reviewed it negatively obviously have no sense of humor whatsoever. Cake encourages kids to be creative and has an anti-consumerism message which is rare--if not unheard of--in kids' programming. It's a shame, but not surprising, that such a show has little funding, resulting in it's low-budget feel. It's the homemade zine in a world of glossy ad-filled beauty mags. In addition, Cake teaches important lessons like being a good friend, being able to admit when you're wrong, feeling good about who you are, and standing up for yourself. To a cynical, bored, adult viewer, these things may seem corny, but for kids they're lessons that are really relevant to them as they're developing their social skills. There should be more shows like Cake.

Great Kids Show
sandrasguy27 December 2008
I'm a fan of Saturday morning kids shows going back to the late 1960's. The show is built around making crafts, which is original for any kids show. The United States is so very lacking in originality in kids shows, it's like studios don't even try.

The biggest problem with Cake, besides the lead character's name, is the casting of Anna Marie Perez De Tagle as Miracle. The studio was super lucky to land her, then really didn't know what to do with her once they had her. In case you're not up on Anna's happenings, she is not only a gifted actress, but also a great singer. Onstage, she can hold her own with Cher or Tina Turner. It's hard to believe that such a mighty voice can come out of someone so tiny (she's 5'0"). The other two look often look at Anna knowing that one day, Anna will be one of the greats, with Oscars, Emmys, and Grammys on her mantlepiece. They instinctively know that the audience's eyes are on Anna as she dominates the scenes she's in-without even trying.

It's a crying shame only 13 episodes were ever shot. It's interesting to see that now, two years later, Krista has small bits inserted with her in 2008 with a new craft idea. I've seen most of the eps now, but I'm keeping my eyes open for the series DVD. It's Anna's best role yet.
