'Never Step on a Scorpion'.

A scientist named Dr. Stillwell develops a super-human being dubbed The Scorpion (voiced by Carl Banas). This is all financed by Jameson to provide a lethal foe for Spidey. But, the stronger The Scorpion gets, the more evil he gets. And so he turns on Jameson, and vows to go after both him and Spidey. It's fun to watch Spider-Man use variations on his webbing to ensnare The Scorpion, since the villain is so strong he can snap through ordinary webs. He is even able to snap the bars of his prison cell. Jameson, ever the weasel, has no problem hiding behind Betty (or Spidey, as soon as he arrives to save the day), and even pleads for Peter to hang around. Then, of course, he takes full credit for the monsters' capture. It's cool to note the various shots from this segment that are used in the opening and closing bits of every episode.

'Sands of Crime'. The Sandman (voice of Tom Harvey) steals the extremely valuable Goliath Diamond, and Spidey must prove his innocence when security footage makes it look like he's responsible. The brightest bit, of course, is when Sandy & Spidey are having their big fight at the end, with both hero & villain exploiting their abilities to the nth degree. It's also a real hoot when we learn what Sandy's big weakness is. When all is said & done, Peter has to admit to the press that he was too entertained "watching" the fight to get any pics. Prompting yet another slam against "kids" by Jameson.

Eight out of 10.
