It's strange
Mysterygeneration30 January 2024
Simply said, Helba chooses to create her own universe by informing all of the characters and players from the.hack series that she is putting up a hot spring and that it is their mission to find it. Presumably, the group (series) who discovers it first will win a prize. In addition to the main plot, there are tidbits of commentary and small issues that the characters argue about that appear funnier than the primary goal; these are scattered throughout the narrative, making it difficult to follow who is arguing with whom and other details. The tale itself isn't all that significant; what will keep you entertained is that Subaru picked up her axe for once.

It's strange, just plain strange. The anime does a decent job at identifying each character by name when they appear, even if the characters are portrayed in an extremely abstract way and some of them don't even resemble the characters that are meant to be there. In certain scenes, the animation and artwork would return to normal, but at ridiculous moments, such as when Crim inadvertently cut Balmung's cape and feathers, the feathers appeared and looked fine when the focus was on them. In another scene, Bear and Orca were fighting, and two naked women were passing by. Why were the women normally drawn, but Orca and Bear looked like they had vomited on the canvas?

Since all of the characters are from other series, there isn't much to say about it, but one thing is for certain-the majority of them are not your typical characters. The writer obviously intended this OVA to be humorous because nearly every character has some sort of small comedic twist.
