"There's No Business" was a two part storyline scripted by Gabe Kaplan himself, his first since the third part of "And Baby Makes Four," and a semi-autobiographical work. Kotter's way with jokes keeps his class happy, so the Sweathogs encourage him to try out for Sunday's amateur night at the Comedy Connection. His first attempt with his usual run of relatives is a dismal failure, but his students know he can do better. Talent agent Peter Charnoff (Sam Weisman) agrees that Kotter can succeed with better material, and when he hears about the Sweathogs he's anxious to have his new client work out the new act. After careful coaching from his students, Kotter's next performance is a hit, and Charnoff's offer of two weeks in Jersey City at $500 a week is too good to refuse.
