Perilous thrills

Warning: Spoilers
THE SAINT PLAYS WITH FIRE is one of the more exciting SAINT episodes dating from the end of series two. This time around, Templar finds himself going up against fascist thug members of the British Nazi Party, and lots of perilous situations and fisticuffs ensue. This episode benefits from crisp black and white photography, more in-depth plotting than usual, and a strong supporting cast that includes the great former wrestler Joe Robinson as another heavy. Interestingly, Robinson would later go up against Bond again - this time in the form of Sean Connery - for DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

The Saint Plays with Fire

It is an angry Simon Templar at the start of the episode as he sees the rise of fascism in Britain.

There is a rally by the British Nazi Party in Trafalgar Square which descends into violence.

An undercover reporter who infiltrated the British Nazi Party dies in a suspicious fire.

The Saint goes for the leader if the Nazis and those who support them.

The Nazi here are mindless thugs but look at the good and the great that support their philosophy.

Not much different from today. This time the Nazis are really in government.
