A clever mystery.

Mr Reeder attempts to help the local Bank Manager, who's been arrested for robbing his own bank, and silencing the Night watchman permanently.

It's a good episode, a clever mystery, it's perhaps less engaging than previous episodes, but it's still a good watch.

Reeder is very clever here, he finds the clues, but uses his excellent observational skills to seek out the real solution, and find the true miscreant.

Mona Bruce is so entertaining as Feeder's Housekeeper, Windsor Davies is also good as The Desk Sergeant.

Solid. 6/10

The Poetical Policeman

Lambton Green is a bank manager who is just about to go on holiday. Instead he is arrested by Constable Burnett.

His bank has been robbed of £75,000 and the night watchman is found dead.

Reeder believes that Green might be innocent even though Reeder once arrested Green for embezzlement for which he had done time.

Green claims that he was being blackmailed but he did not steal the money or kill the night watchman.

Ironically Constable Burnett writes poetry to Miss Magda Grayne on his beat, the same woman that Green was engaged to.

It is an episode that relies on Reeder's observations which gets his mind whirring. It just does not come well on the screen. Rather too much talking.

It could all be down to whether the Constable framed Green or if Green was betrayed by someone close to him.
