Lots of big laughs.
vitoscotti8 January 2023
Mama Thelma's adventurous meal with "goat cheese" wouldn't turn off a whole family to run to the kitchen for peanut butter sandwiches. Comical scene filling out the dating information trying to make boring plain Jane Iola appealing to male resders. Lots of funny Iola (Beverly Archer) screen time. We see how timid, and lacking self confidence she is freezing up with her date Ralph Washburn (Jack Manning). Iola made some hysterical fearful facial expressions totally unable to communicate with Ralph. Jack Manning's performance was a highlight as the eye for the ladies old-timer who had the hots for Thelma's full figure. Strong fast moving episode with one great scene after another.

Poor Iola!
Sylviastel28 August 2008
Iola Lucille Boylan is a dedicated adult devoted to her elderly, sick parents. We hear about her mother and father often in the series but we never see them. Iola spends so much time the Harpers that she is an honorary one but not always welcome. In this episode, Naomi suggests to Mama Harper that they put an advertisement in the newspaper. They get slim pickings for Iola who is at first furious but later decides to try it out with Ralph. When Ralph enters Harper house which is the designated location for the first meeting, Iola is terrified about the prospect of being alone with a man that she convinces Thelma to stay with her but Ralph has other things on his mind concerning who he ends up with.
