The policeman in this and several other episodes was named Sergeant Theodore Mooney. Ironically, that was the name of Gale Gordon's character in 'The Lucy Show'. Gordon went on to play a regular in this series during its last season, replacing Joseph Kearns
(Mr. Wilson) who died during season 3.
