Pop Idol Lurch

Gomez encourages Lurch to record a song and it becomes a hit.

A good Lurch episode. His record is him playing the harpsicord and groaning. Wednesday does the watusi and Gomez dances the Freddie. Ted Cassidy actually made a recording called "The Lurch" inspired by the current dance crazes. He performed it on "Shindig" the same year as this episode. However it did not become a hit.

Pretty dumb episode

Lurch becomes a teen idol. Why? He does essentially the same things here, that he does in every other episode. How about if he actually made an attempt to sing a song, rather than just grunting? Also, isn't it curious that the "normal" people suddenly see nothing strange about the Addams Family? This series started out well enough, but got progressively sillier and dumber as it went along. As Lurch, Ted Cassidy was too one dimensional. All the Addams characters were weird, but the others weren't always doing the same exact thing, all the time. Unfortunately, the opening and ending credits often proved better than the episodes themselves.
