Just seen this.. not impressed
escape1979uk20 February 2008
OK I'm awarding this a 4..... And that is purely because 2 scenes in the entire film were well done, turned up the gore and feeling of real gut wrenching revulsion and just about saved the film from a Zero.

So, the plot goes something like this.

Teen kids, Murderer systematically butchers them in interesting ways, police detectives follow the trail to its conclusion....

with me so far?

OK so the plot is flimsy but many horror films have fared on less and done an admirable job of telling a bad story well through good acting and well directed horror scenes. The acting in this is SHOCKING! The "beautiful detective" is just horrible, the drunken retired cop (oh dear god....... another one) is bearable at best, and you are begging for most of the kids to be slaughtered just to end the pain of having to watch them.

Kinda harsh seeing as I love trashy B rate horrors, but this really scrapes the bucket...... watch at your peril!

the tag line is "Answering the door will never be the same again!" and they are right. I will have to think of this film any time someone knocks!

Pretty Bad
inuyoung6419 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie at the video store and thought I would give it a try. The cover was pretty creepy and I had never heard of this movie before so I thought it might be okay. I was very wrong.

The very first scene, contained a jump scene (which I did jump at), but it seems pretty unlikely that a burn victim would be so strong that he could punch his arm through a thick wooden door.

The blood and gore was really cheap. The fading in and out thing was pretty annoying. Also, I am pretty sure that the camera work was done by someone who didn't know what they were doing. The script was horrible.

Now the only thing that I actually kind of liked was the end (and not just because it was the end). I liked how they linked all the murders together by telling how Rico was burned and how Troy fitted in with everything.

Now, this is a horrible movie, like literally one of the worst I have ever seen (and I sat through TWO Twilight movies!).

Terrible Movie
claudio_carvalho18 October 2009
In Glass County, several teenagers from high-school are slaughtered and their severed bodies are found in the working place of their fathers. The retired detective Mike (Antonio Mastrantonio), who is the absent grandfather that is trying to approach to his granddaughter Nikki Reynolds (Joli Julianna), teams up with the inexperienced Detective Billie Vega (Kim Taggart) to help her in her investigation, where the slow janitor Troy (Sal Sirchia) is the prime suspect.

The lame "Knock Knock" is a terrible movie: the story and the screenplay are ridiculously bad; the unconvincing acting is awful; the camera work is dreadful. The only thing that works is the cover of the DVD that induced me to buy it. My vote is three.

I can't believe I wasted 99 cents on this movie!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
There are no words to adequately describe HOW BAD this movie is. Normally these slasher movies bother me and I have to hide my eyes during the killing scenes but this just alternated between making me laugh and making me cringe...and not in a good way.

I have never met a cop who wears high heels, tight skirts and a see through blouse to interrogate suspects. And please don't get me started on the bad porn music that played while kids are being 'butchered.' It's an insult to porn movies everywhere. The acting was TERRIBLE, the lines were corny and trite and delivered with about as much enthusiasm as a visit to the dentist for root canal. Some of the finer acting moments include fake screams by the parents (the butcher and the dentist being the WORST, which might explain why those two scenes were combined), the lack of the kids reactions to finding out their friend was killed (He's dead, lets eat), the fake country accents of the sheriff and Troy's mom (They've got the bad Southern one and the rest have mild to heavy New York ones which make no sense) and lets not forget the beautiful scene where Cindy has been field dressed and the camera cuts to a close up and you can clearly see her opening her eye as if to say, "Is the scene over yet? Oops, it's not. My bad."

While watching the credits, it appeared to be a family affair as every other person had Ariola as a last name but I wonder if some of the people were using code names so as not to be associated in any way, shape or form with this movie...because it was THAT BAD! I mean, Mike Driver as the on-set driver? Coincidence? I think not. I read the reviews where people said that it was a hour and half of their life wasted, I entirely agree. I can only hope that the producers were able to claim this as a loss on their taxes.

Wow - really, really bad.
noellel-110 May 2008
If I could rate this movie as a zero I would - but the lowest rating is a 1.

This movie looks as if some high school kids broke into their AV department, stole some equipment and decided to make a movie.

The DVD boxes these movies are getting displayed with are so much better. I used to look at DVD cases to see if it looked like a cheesy B-movie flick -

this one didn't look like a bad one - I was wrong- it was pretty bad.

If you are willing to waste an hour and a half of your life, do it watching paint dry instead of this.

I just love the name of the production company though - Aeriola productions!

Knock knock this sucked
johnd2829 September 2011
I can't believed I wasted an hour and half of my life on this. I've seen better writing and acting in a porno. This movie took a generic concept and slaughtered it with no originality. This movie make bad b movies look like tens. The movie is about some teenagers that pick on a poor retarded kid when an accident happens and someone supposedly dies. Then years later a mysterious figure comes back and starts hacking people up. The mystery unravels worse than in Scooby Doo(which I 'm a big fan).

In the end you wondered why you wasted your money on this much more you time. I hope we never see a Knock Knock 2 or a remake

So bad you can't even laugh at it.
niecyangel70326 February 2011
I am a true movie buff and usually am one that really seems to love movies others hate. I could find something good in them but this one ... not so much. It had a decent story line and could've been a really good movie if they had written it a little different and OMG the acting was horrible! I kid you NOT overdone, ridiculous reactions and facial expressions let alone the lines. I wouldn't let them put this on my resume as an actor. Most of the time I would read a review like this and say, okay gotta watch to see if it's that bad, don't waste what precious little time you have left on this earth with this movie. Unless you like to laugh at bad acting. I was really disappointed. It was so bad you couldn't even make fun of it. I cannot stress enough how bad the acting was.

Left me speechless
vmalast28 August 2018
My fault, I read the reviews and was curious about the 9 star review. How, on any planet in the known and and unknown universe could anyone rank it amongst the slasher classics????? Acting beyond horrible. Over acted, under acted, rarely acted. What were they thinking of during the "slasher" scenes? Was the filming style supposed to strike fear, be artsy? All I know is that it left me speechless in a very bad way. Couldn't finish it.

A good Italian-American slasher? fuhgeddaboudit
movieman_kev1 May 2008
Wearing it's Italian-American heart on it's blood-soaked sleeve, this derivative horror film has a group of unlikable, stupid jocks and their girlfriends getting killed by a masked killer while a retired police detective pairs up with a female one to try to find out who the murderer is. Lamely acted and uninteresting, uninvolving plot line makes this play out like countless other 'teen slashers' of the '90's/2000's. Not a totally worthless film, merely a ho-hum bad one that no one give two damns about as they likely have seen some variation of it before (and better). Sal Sirchia as Troy, a mentally challenged janitor, is absolutely horrible in his role in this film (everyone else in the movie are FAR from master thespians themselves, but he stood out as the worst)

Eye Candy: Misty Meeler gets topless in the obligatory shower scene

My Grade: D

DVD Extras: 4 featurettes (Music and the Sound, Special FX Make-up, The Beat down, and Rico Behind the Mask); a Promo for Fear.net; Theatrical trailer; and trailers for "Midnght Meat Train", "Seance", "Dead Man's Bounty", & "Christie's Revenge"

Joke with no punchline
Tanuccoon31 July 2011
Who was there? An incredibly generic serial killer, accompanied by a terrible script and performances that ranged from lackluster to terrible. A group of teens whom we saw for maybe five minutes at the beginning of the film (that, for the most part, don't show up again until their death sequence) are being killed off in a manner relating to their fathers' occupations. However, the big question isn't why this is happening, but do we as viewers even care given how little screen time the victims are given? The plot largely centers on one of the character's grandfather and a lady cop, although the token mentally disabled man-child gets an absurd amount of screen-time as well (whether or not he actually had contact with the killer is never established, yet he somehow knows the method people will be killed in).

The story is largely incomprehensible. Due to extreme, unbuffered scene skips sometimes it's night, sometimes it's day, then it's night again all within mere minutes of film time. The fact that the film doesn't even attempt to establish something as basic as time is just one more example of the sloppy direction and script. Of course, the real kicker is when the killer's identity and motive is established there's something of a clear disparity between the killer's actions and the motive. How is this resolved? By a character claiming, "It makes sense", then choosing to not to elaborate on the batcrap logic of the bizarro world where it actually would make sense (as the motive has only the most tenuous of connections to the method, while not explaining at all why the kids are being targeted). Not to mention that the killer's apparent modus operandi, which involved only targeting a certain group of kids for a specific reason (and even letting somebody run off earlier for that reason), is abandoned at the end when he attacks a handful of non-involved personalities.

However, films of this sort can occasionally overcome such flaws through the ability of its actors, a sense of humor, or some unique story element. Sadly, none of those was present. Although some character performances were at least tolerable for the most part (including "gramps" Ernest Mingione, who actually was pretty solid at times), the majority was strictly worse than other b-list productions. In particular, Kim Taggart (playing Detective Billie Vega) doesn't even seem to understand the concept of acting and often looks like she's reading the script right off a prompter. This sin might be forgivable if not for the fact she prominently features in most scenes, as a constant reminder of the film's numerous shortcomings. However, one of the more baffling decisions was for the granddaughter to keep a current photo of her grandpa in her room (which the camera seems to deliberately take note). Why a girl who wants no contact with her grandfather, going to the point of not even wanting to see the man, would keep a photo of him close to her (rather than say, one of her parents...) is yet another sloppy film-making mystery (presumably due to poor edits that removed a relevant scene along the way).

All in all, I'd be very hard-pressed to name one single element that redeems the movie in some way. When it comes right down to it, Knock, Knock is a joke with no punchline.

more a girl parade
trashgang12 October 2009
Everywhere I seen a review of this movie it was always the same, this is bad. So I was ready to view it, only one problem, not available over here but fortunately a good friend offered me a full uncut version. Only 1 minute into the movie I already knew something was terrible wrong. The first girl murdered was dressed sexy. Not that I have a problem with that but mostly that attracts more then the gore. Anyway, the good part of the movie is indeed the gore. It's not all in front of the camera but they really show the result. It's gory but easy to take. But there is of course the movie itself. The acting of some is really bad. For example the interrogation is a big laugh, she never impresses me as a copper. And the killer is a cheap version of Leatherface, his clothes, mask and hair is a copy! Furtheron they also listened what they did with Evil Dead and Nightmare on Elm Street, I mean the children singing chants. Some scene's are too long, could have edited it better. And some scene's had nothing to do with the movie, for example when one of the guys goes home with his girlfriend her sister opens the door, what we have next is nice to see but has nothing to do with the script, and a lot of girls show their body, clothed, in an explicit way. I told before, I have no problem with that if that doesn't let you forget the storyline. I gave it a 3 just for the gore, could have been much better...

Scary Flick
apmanage28 February 2008
I was lucky to see this film at a Fangoria Monster Monday screening and it was very good. The theater was sold out and a lot of the cast and crew were there. The music and sound effects were really good as well as the kill scenes an special effects make-up. I later learned during the Q&A that all the kill scenes were practical and no computer effects were used. I found the story very original and it kept me thinking and wanting to find out why everything was happening in the shoreline. The editing was cool with flash frames and quick cuts and the wittier and director did a great job to keep me on the edge of my seat most of the night. The acting was good for the most part and a few really stood out as well as the girls were really hot. One actress in particular was a mind boggling bombshell. She is unbelievable looking a worth the price of the ticket alone. Every great horror film needs a shower scene and this one has a great one with one of the most graphic kills and great camera angels I have ever seen. All in all this is definitely a film to see and recently I read it is being released through Lionsgate home video.

Good slasher that fails to keep our attention
TdSmth527 May 2008
Someone starts killing a bunch of kids on campus. Who could it be? Any of the characters we know?

This is a slasher flick that toys with the whodunnit aspect but doesn't really exploit it. One mentally challenged character is presented as the only candidate- but an unlikely one. While the killings go on, a pair of cops are on the killer's trail. Problem is the the story is told from the perspective of the cops, who aren't particularly engaging or interesting. The victims are all to some extent annoying and none of them stand out or get to have a major role.

The killer himself, some well dressed fellow, is characterized mostly by wearing a bunch of rags on his face, looked like newspaper pieces actually. But he's not scary enough. Again, the movie doesn't spend enough time on him, on his preparations for killings, etc. That said, the death scenes are excellent, very gory and explicit at times. There a little bit of nudity, too, that makes sure it stays above the belt.

As it turns out, our killer has good reasons for his mission. It as explained near the end. Overall, worth a rent for fans of horror who want to see some cool death scenes. There is a story there but it's told in a way that's just not engaging.

A horrible movie
fiery_boy_3530 April 2009
Certainly a horrible movie..

Its the worst movie i've seen.

Really Bad..

If I had an option to vote as zero I would choose it..

In the movie there is no horror, no action, shortly nothing..

I watched this movie with my friend's advise.

Because, he has been watched the movie and he was repentant and he wanted me to be as well as him..

So an advise to you, if you don't want to be repentant do not watch.

Thus save your time..

"knock, Knock" "Who's There" "Bad Movie" "Bad Movie who?"

Warning: Spoilers
Bad movie you wished you hadn't just watched.

Okay, this movie was made by Carmine and the boys down in the old neighborhood, and even though it's supposed to be in some rural town, half of the actors talk like they have that Jersey/Italian accent. You got a problem with dat?

This movie seems to have a split personality, since it doesn't know if it wants to be a slasher movie or a gritty neighborhood crime drama. I think it wanted to be the latter, but they got funding for the former. Or something.

After a somewhat pointless scene with a girl being killed (not actually tied into the rest of the movie until the last five minutes), we are introduced to a group of high school friends. You know, typical high school kids in movies like this, they are all in their mid-twenties. They are given zero personality, so you actually aren't really concerned when they are subjected to death by bad special effects.

One of the girl's has a grandfather who is an ex-cop who never really bothered getting involved in her life until now. When her friends start turning up dead, he teams up with a hot blonde detective to sort out the killing. Except while the kids are getting picked off in the slasher movie, they're investigating inside the gritty crime drama. The two Genre's really don't seem to mix well.

Anyway, we find out that 30 years ago, the son of the local mortician was locked in a casket by the rowdy football team, and a fire started, scarring him for life. The town, like all these dumb small movie towns, covered up for the football team and the mortician went to jail. He grows up to be a low rent Jason Vorhees, but you're not sure why he's killing the kids instead of the fathers, but there you are.

Bad acting. Bad special effects. Incoherent dialog. A small town that has a Sheriff (who inexplicably has long, unwashed hair. Like he said, "Okay, I'll be in your cheap movie, Carmine, but I ain't cutting my hair." ) AND a Chief of police and detectives.

High School students vs maniacal murderer
michaelRokeefe2 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Bloody, gory and well photographed slasher flick. Acting is atrocious, but cast features a score of knockout beauties. There will be a few empty chairs at graduation. Kim Taggart plays detective Vega, who is lead detective on a very puzzling case. A serial killer causes citizens of a small town fearful of opening their front doors...that is where he nails some of his victims. A group of popular high school students encounter a deranged killer that teaches them a few lessons. The number one person under suspicion is a traumatized loner at the school. The body count increases rapidly. Some pretty disturbing images may just be the only redeemable thing about KNOCK, KNOCK. Also featured are: Suzi Lorraine, Antonio Mastrantonio, Nicole Abisinio, Joli Julianna, Kat Castaneda, Anthony Palladino and Chris Bashinelli.

Knock knock. Who's there? Someone who can't shoot or edit a film properly.
BA_Harrison7 January 2017
In Knock Knock, the sins of the fathers are visited on the children, as a disfigured maniac slaughters the kids of those accidentally responsible for his terrible injuries.

When a slasher features an excess of mean spirited gore and plenty of curvaceous beauties (including some topless nudity during the obligatory shower scene), I can usually make allowances for a derivative plot and dreadful performances, but so abysmal is the camera-work and editing, mostly during Knock Knock's all important death scenes, that I can find little forgiveness in my heart on this occasion. With horrible 'wobbly cam' and that annoying flickering effect that accompanies rapid cuts in so many contemporary horror films, I soon found my patience wearing thin.

It's a shame, because if writer/director Joseph Ariola had just kept it simple, rather than trying to be 'stylish', his film could have been a whole lot more enjoyable—a good old-fashioned, unpretentious stalk 'n' slash that doesn't wimp out on the splatter (victims are repeatedly stabbed, burnt, eviscerated and dismembered). As it stands, there's a good chance that the erratic execution of the film's kills will induce a seizure, which isn't really what we want, is it?

Do not pay to watch this movie.
seanfriel8 April 2009
I work at a video rental store, so I get to rent movies for free. I like horror movies, really any type of movie. As someone else stated the covers for these monstrosities are getting much better. I rented this one on a whim because it didn't look too bad, but I was way off point. The acting is terrible, the plot is terrible, the script is terrible, everything about this movie is terribad. How it even got picked up for production is a feat in itself.

Don't waste your time on this piece of crap. It's an hour and a half of your life you will never get back. At least it didn't cost me any money.

A cliché' teen/slasher movie with no imagination
interleave128 October 2008
I didn't even bother watching the end. It was pointless. This was a stereotypical teen slasher movie without anything new to add to the genre. In an effort to make up for a poor story and poor acting, the producers and directors give us a full serving of hot young bodies to stare at so that (they must hope) completely miss the fact that the movie is horrible. If all you are looking for is eye candy (and there is plenty of that) and lots of blood then this is probably the movie for you. Of course, you probably enjoyed zombie strippers as well. If you're looking for a GOOD horror movie that is suspenseful and scary, you've come to the wrong place.

...we're going to need a whole lot more of this yellow tape. Warning: Spoilers
I was not really sure what was going on here. It seemed like it was going to be interesting with a real jumping scene at the beginning, but then it just went all over the place.

We barely meet one football player before he was stabbed. Why was he chosen? Who was he? He's there one minute and gone the next.

Suspicion falls on Troy (Sal Sirchia). Again, we have no idea why. As the movie goes on, it is clear that he is involved in some way, but not as the murderer.

Things do get gruesome quickly as the mechanic's daughter (Kat Castaneda) is killed, quickly followed by the janitor's son.

Kim Taggart as the lead detective is so over the top it's not even funny. The only cop that even had a clue about doing the job was Antonio Mastrantonio.

We are enjoying a nice shower scene featuring Misty Dawn Meeler, but she is unceremoniously butchered. It would have been nice to have Stephanie Finochio in a shower scene.

One by one the youth of the town are murdered, and we find out it does back 20 years to their fathers.

The ending was just bizarre.

Not that bad honestly
royalty197426 May 2008
This was not the cinematic masterwork of the 21st century but not the worst movie of all time. The gore effects were creepy and made me squirm which is very rare. The acting ranged from truly awful to decent and believable. The story was OK, a bit confusing and seemed like some scenes were missing that might have explained some of the deaths better. I guess that the reviewers that say this was the most horrible movie ever are fortunate enough to have missed the many many bad movies I watch regularly. And FYI it is not "aeriola" productions, it's "ariola" which is the director's credited name. Sounds made up to me and there was only one nude scene, albeit a lengthy one, but not wall to wall like many low budget slashers.

cheap backwoods horror!!
nightwatch477325 March 2013
This film like many other direct to DVD horror was less than appealing in many ways but also kind of enjoyable. I thought the acting was decent and some of the f/x were okay but where the hell did the 1.2 million dollar budget go. What did they spend the money on booze and drugs after the shoot because for the life of me I just don't see how this film cost that much. They shot the film in one small rural area and there were about 6 no name actors that got paid maybe 5 grand each to do this so where did all the money go. I am just as perplexed as you are. Anyway I do have a soft spot for backwoods horror so maybe the four out of ten is a bit bias but ooh well it still was kind of enjoyable to say the least.....

Don't Give up on this, it is worth it
Oddark12328 May 2009
Knock Knock is a film that needs a chance. This is what is obviously going to earn hate. This movie seems confusing and according to other views, people don't really understand what is clearly put out there. This slasher focuses on a very dark origin for it's killer. The origin is sad and you feel sorry for him, which is a good thing.

The lead of this film is not any kid, okay, it's pretty damn obvious the lead is the Killer or if not the cop. The Kids are just the kills that the killer comes back to do.

Now when I watched this movie, I was confused at first and thought about turning it off, but please stick with it, as all the confusion fades and you get a crystal clear picture of why everything happens like it does.

If you like movies souly for senseless kills, then I suggest you go find some other (horrible) horror film then. This is a film you have to think to understand, and a movie that doesn't make you think isn't worth anything.

I know people are gonna bash me for giving this a decent review,, but you know what,, I really don't care what everyone thinks.. I liked the movie and that is what matter's... a killer is systematically killing of local teens one by one,, and it has something to do with their father's occupation,,, sure it's not gonna win any awards,,, sure it's n ot the best acted,, and yes it's cheesy,, sleezy,, skanky girls, and all that,, but what's wrong with half naked college girls running around on screen,, the kids are so annoying you are actually wishing that their death would come sooner than later. I liked the movie because of the twist near the end,, but I'm sure most of you didn't make it that far,, altogether I'm going a 6 for this movie,, because iut was more than what I expected.

Good Fellas meets Maniac
drnrg3121 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In order to make this movie seem remotely watchable, I've added spoilers to the max, so if you don't want to know what happens you can stop reading now.

This Knock Knock movie was seriously funny. The gore and killing were great, but the rest was just a very bad joke. The acting was horrendous. The starlets seem like strippers and the men look like the strip club owners. I'm not kidding. The men all speak with Brooklyn accents and look like mafia guys. The main detective was pretty ,but couldn't act herself out of a box. The story had some cool ideas. I'll mention those redeeming qualities.

1. The beginning. Great 5 minutes of the movie. The guy knocks on the door and waits for the unsuspecting damsel to answer. He repeats this process 3 times and every time she opens the door , there is no one there. Finally she decides to catch the guy in the act by peeking through the peep hole, just as she does this, the killers' arm crashes through the door and grabs her. Even I jumped.

2. The killings. Not only the gore, but also the way he props them for the parents to find. One girl is strapped to the shower and gutted. another is cut up into pieces and shoves into his Father's locker. There was no computer generated effects, so pretty good make up.

3. This retarded janitor, who we meant to believe could be the killer , has all these Barbie dolls. He cuts off the faces off the students pictures and pastes them on to the dolls. Then he reenacts the murder seen, because fir some reason he always seems to be there, but he isn't the killer. If you have seen Maniac, you would appreciate this idea?

These are the good parts. I would reedit this movie keep all those parts and cut out all the detective solving parts and especially the female detective and mafia fathers.I would probably add some more T&A and try to develop these characters at least to cardboard worthy personalities.

Watch only if you like cool gory effects, otherwise...Fuggetaboutit.LOL!
