Promising Start for Doug Sutherland.

Warning: Spoilers
Lakefront (2004): Dir: Doug Sutherland / Cast: Dennis Cutts, Julie Reitzel, James Collins, Silya Wiggins, Pauline Cronin: Independent film about pivoting from one place to another. It stars Dennis Cutts whose Gulf War experience as well as the death of his wife leads to an evaporation in alcohol. He builds boats but is having an affair with the wife of a lumber yard bully. Layered screenplay full of detail until the third act plays off lame action clichés. Director Doug Sutherland handles the multiple subplots effectively despite the obvious low budget. Acting unfortunately is a mixed bag of amateur to extreme bad. Cutts fares okay as he struggles with memories that he cannot erase and a habit he is failing to beat. Julie Reitzel overacts as an abused wife who generates absolutely no sympathy. She is skilled at carving driftwood, and is mentored by her sister. James Collins plays her abusive husband who works at the lumber yard and hides a sin of his own. Silya Wiggins is over the top as the wife of a workaholic using their vacation to restore their marriage. Why this is necessary to the story is beyond me but it doesn't help matters. Pauline Cronin steals scenes as the one good female character in the film. Strong theme regarding overcoming trials and dealing with various types of abuse but the biggest trial will be for the audience to wake up when it is all over. Score: 6 ½ / 10

Best movie I've ever seen in my entire life.

The actor who plays Brenda is just fantastic.

I seriously recommend this movie. In fact I recommend this movie to all cancer patients because it's general greatness will instantly cure them. It's plot is very intriguing and the script is very well written. The twist ending will keep you guessing till the end. While tragic at times the story will overall make you feel like you have spent you time very well.

I give this movie a 10 out of 10 because it had enthralled me more then any other Hollywood movie could. I urge readers to watch this movie, it may be difficult to obtain but it is worth it.
