In 1943, WW2 was already leaning more and more to the losing side for Germany. I suppose film studios were expected to produce escapist, funny material.
This animated film running a little over ten minutes certainly delivers that. It's the story of two fishs' wedding somewhere in a Coral Sea. Uplifting music runs throughout, but no word is spoken (fish and oysters can't talk, after all :) The oysters are called upon to deliver pearls, to make a pendant for the bride, who resides in a sunken ship wreck.
Enter the evil guy, an octopus standing on two booted legs, wielding a sword and fighting against the (much smaller) groom. He alone might have no chance, but other small fish (in which there's several sawfish, including a rotary one) support him so he ultimately wins the day. And the bride.
This film is available for legit download or streaming on archive.org (judging from the logo at top right, obviously recorded from an Arte broadcast). I enjoyed it, while keeping in mind the historical background of its making.
