Jo's abstract painting excites Arlette, Roger can only laugh at the title, not at tarantula Marie's escape all over him. Xavier runs Spring during Pia's holiday and decides to start a guitar course, taught by himself, but all candidates are scared off, and rent the space out to clubs and for events, but finds himself forced to instruct a kids class as 'dance nanny'. Evert and Katrijn passed first year rock- and ballet courses at art academy.

Xavier forbids Evert to organize his own guitar course at Spring. Jo is told by Roger to look earnestly for other lodgings. David is elated when Roger offers them a trip to London to celebrate Katrijn's first year of ballet academy, but she refuses, determined to drop out of all competitive dancing. The police must investigate Marie-France's claim that fired PA Claude sabotaged her agency by copying and deleting all business files.

Jo needs money to afford a place of his own, so he volunteers to paint Spring for Xavier, yet his active-abstract artistic approach arouses all but enthusiasm. Xavier refuses to cheat at the lottery so Roxanne can win Stan's American football team's coveted lottery price, a car. Xavier quickly regrets having admitted Evert to his guitar course, as he only came to sabotage him by smart-mouthing and bickering until everyone demands his money back.

Xavier refuses to cheat at the bingo lottery for Roxanne, who threatens to dump him, recalling how greedy she was for his inheritance and fearing Stan's beefy football team. Jo feels hurt as even the kids can't appreciate his 'energetic mural' in the office and finally finds an affordable apartment. Roger freaks out while wining about lazy drop-out Katrijn's sabbatical plan, hearing David is taking an exam to be promoted above him. Xavier having won honestly, Roxanne wants him back, but even flirting with Stan's mates can't make him jealous enough to cease the prized car.

Jo moves into his new place with tarantula Marie, whom he intends to let roam about. Ingrate bitch Pia returns, ignores all Xavier's good, lucrative work and demands even more chores, so he's in no mood to take gold-digger Roxanne back, not even after a private belly dance. David is admitted by exam to police inspector course, but fears Roger's jealousy. As Katrijn persists on dropping out of schooling all year, Roger bills her for room and board.

Jo starts teaching his art class by a briefs-only demonstration of action painting and encourages everyone to seek their 'own style', even Tien's graffiti. Xavier is pushed to rush the office chores as Pia fears the usual criticism when her father, the professional dance theatre director, will visit Spring, which he warned her not to by, his first-ever visit. Xavier takes Roxanne back after helping him paint, even over the mural. Jo's tarantula escapes, into the neighbor's shower. Davis is not convinced by Roger's claim that beat cops are better then detectives as they really help people. Xavier's pa questions Evert, who bought an expensive guitar and amplifier, about the earnings of a pizzeria.

Jo grudgingly allows that home-refugee Katrijn invites herself to stay at his place 'so long', even in his bed and expects the 'good host' to serve her and David, worries when Evert warns without a job she'll stay for months. Even a hangover doesn't seem to help sorting out the lazy bones party animal. Xavier soon experiences Roxanne keeps 'borrowing' his car, worries about the gas and imposes due chores. His pa keeps studying the pizzeria business. David started his detective training and considers teaching a martial arts course at Spring.

Jo is growing desperately tired of self-invited parasite Katrijn, who can't even be trusted to go shopping, but being too nice to be blunt, he starts looking for a lodging for her himself, although she has no job perspectives. David hoped to make up with mentor Roger by offering a drink on their last beat day, but it's bitterly turned down out of jealousy, bagging on detective work.

Jo's irritation with lazy party animal Katrijn grows as she keeps taking his hospitality for granted despite less subtle hints and turns down all his apartment tips at first sight, without searching for a job, and stays out all night again. Her moving out keeps Roger too grumpy to make up with David. François keeps studying the pizza business, even Evert's plan for a promotion song, but forgets to be at Spring in time as promised to Xavier to sign for Pia's office furniture delivery.

Jo is not amused that parasite Katrijn celebrates a silly cart race victory -which Pia stupidly gave away- by inviting everybody for a party at 'her', i.e. his place, without pulling her weight or minding the neighbors, then leaves drunk after insulting Jo. David can't attend, exhausted from police academy. Pia's father arrives and finds her 'top dance school' a mismanaged, cockroach-infested pigsty, where co-owner Xavier passed out with Katrijn who got him drunk, which allows jealous Roxanne to demand permanent access to his car. Jo packs Katrijn's belongings with overdue marching orders. Xaviers' pa suggests he should sell his share of Spring to start a business with him.

Xavier and his father François propose Pia to buy him out. Xavier gets Pia's pa to consider giving her a second chance. David starts his martial arts self-defense course but picks the wrong demo victim. François explains his pizzeria plan to Xavier, who seeks promo inspiration at Evert's commercial rehearsals. Roger isn't prepared to let Arlette take useless Katrijn back in free-loading as if nothing happened.

Xavier accidentally inspires a greasy car mechanics course. Trainee detective David in a service car finds Roger as jealous, having failed the course himself when young. Prankster Xavier sends the pest control to the rehearsal room, next he goes to the locker-rooms. Xavier duly refuses wasting part of his capital on a Thailand holiday with Roxanne, even sneers it's her turn to treat him. Finding Roger uncooperative as beat cop, David finally pulls rank.

Xavier effectively gets his share bought out by Pia and starts a pizza stand with his father to put Evert's employer out of business, having bought their chef. Grump Roger's family crisis escalates into him storming out and inviting himself as Jo's paying lodger, but on his terms. David's confidence is shattered, having frozen and dropped his gun on the job. Despite his third visit finding Pia's performance even more hopeless, her father dares her to open his theatre season with Swan lake, but only Katrijn has any classical experience. Chantal's father stays home for a bridge building project with his partner and his son Bastiaan, a boringly-gentleman med student her age, only too much to would be mother-in-law's taste.

David's dropped gun keeps shattering his confidence. Xavier prepares his family pizzeria's first commercial, 'covering' rival Evert's music, even steals his local radio appointment.

Jo frantically searches his escaped tarantula, blames Roger and finally throws him out, which was just the kick in the pants he needed to return home, make up with everybody and help David with private coaching. Xavier's family pizzeria 'François' makes a brilliant entree to covered Evert's furious horror.

François orders Xavier to apologize to Evert, who refuses to switch employer. Roger apologizes gratefully to model guest and perfect host Jo. Xavier prepares, without Roxanne's help, the grand opening party for the pizzeria at Spring, which rocks. The band offered to perform for free, but only to 'take credit' for and perform the original version for pizza competitor Carlo's. Chantal dreaded taking pa's partner's gentleman son Bastiaan along, but the 'nerd' turns out a cool dancer. Jo's tarantula escaped and is fatally trampled.

Jo gives his tarantula a solemn funeral service but wants no new spider. Xavier gets Roxanne to help deliver pizzas for the sue of his car, but she's late for her photo-shoot. Feeling guilty, Roger gives him an ideal alternative pet: a snake. Katrijn volunteers to mind stray dog and kid cousin Jorre, quite a handful.

Xavier is in trouble delivering due to selfish Roxanne's unreliability, so he confiscates the car keys and dumps her. Jo baptizes his snake Picasso and paints the late Marie. Roger's coaching terrifies the public but restores David's confidence. Katrijn stupidly trust kid cousin Jorre to buy an ice-cream and follow her to boring Spring all alone, but when François lets him mind the kiosk, the rascal helps himself to a bag of goodies, and although caught later steals from the kiosk pizzeria. Evert sabotages the competition by tricking the local radio into adding to Xavier's jingle a fake 'second pizza free' promotion.

Jo proudly presents his painted spider tribute, and Xavier finds an actually interested art professional. David's coaching by Roger continues. Xavier and François enjoy mean Evert's backfiring weekend stunt as all potential customers discover them, so the lout devises a week-long even more expensive promotion. Rascal Jorre proves an incorrigible kleptomaniac and brilliant liar, setting up Katrijn as plausible suspect.

Xavier and Evert jealously brag they could just as well as Jo make a painting like the one he's offered a small fortune for. Xavier promises to take Roxanne back with car privileges is she helps him to an idea to eliminate the pizza competition. As nobody attends to bored Jorre, Katrijn and Pia plan to let him assist Xavier as free barman. David aced his detective course. As if her girls weren't inadequate enough to dance swan Lake, Pia asks Spring write and perform 'modern music for it'.

Tired of braggarts, Jo dares Xavier and Evert to actually paint better works, which he will present to his buyer. David starts his detective apprenticeship, with colleague Karima, and catches Jorre helping himself to cash at the bar, .leading to more confessions. François is ready to stop the expensive promotion war, but Roxanne convinces Xavier to place fake orders by phone so the rival will lose even more. Having forgotten all about decors for the theatre production of Swan Lake, Pia asks Jo and agrees to let him be assisted by graffiti vandal Tien.

In order to win the painting bet, Xavier hires 'rising professional' Ben for 'art lessons', while David inspires Evert's 'action painting' on the drums. David worries as Katrijn is obviously jealous of his detective apprenticeship partner Karima, she thinks a new outfit is required hence starts working in François' pizzeria kitchen. Evert bluffs to scare off Xavier's fake orders, François wants to stop the losses before he or both go bust. Instead of actually composing for Swan Lake, Evert plans to use Spring's greatest hits. Chantal shortly works off her frustration over pa Christian's arrest in Canada on Bas and his father Ronald, the silent business partner.

Jo plans to finish the stage decoration during the premiere, Pia agrees. Xavier insists to observe Ben, in fact to sign his work for the bet, which it easily wins by sale to Jo's client, but Jo recognizes the style. David curbs Katrijn's jealousy but worries when instructed with Karima to escort Christian home from Canada for judicial questioning. Evert's latest delivery stunt is live serenading, or so he tells Karima. Bas sides with his pa Ronald, who shifts all the blame on Christian.

Jo confides into his snake Picasso that Xavier probably copied from an artist, sighing he misses the obvious suspect. David and Karima are not amused by Katrijn's crazy jealousy. Just when Xavier awaits his gallery-keeper client, Ben arrives to be paid for his lessons and recognizes his work with Xavier's signature, so everybody learns about the switch. Ben gets the cash, shows understanding for Xavier and is delighted to see startled Jo and stuns Xavier stating they're gay exes, yet only he minds. Chantal bitterly blames everyone who doesn't support her father blindly.

Jo has mixed feelings about the return of Ben after two years of living for art abroad without proper goodbye, ignoring whether to allow him back. Xavier is furious as Roxanne, who strained an ankle, is late with his car, wrecking deliveries, and steals one from Evert. David escorts handcuffed Christian on the plane home while worrying about blindly jealous Katrijn, whose flippant misbehavior ends in fainting in his arms while telling Karima she can have him. Christian's partner Roland tells him the documents already handed to justice prove his guilt of building material fraud. Pia promises her pa, who is denied observing rehearsal, a superb show, although the dancers don't do anything right so far.

Xavier walks straight into a fake order trap once, but busts Evert and Tien the next time. Jo is absent-minded, confused by unreliable ex Ben's return, then dumps him despite a surprise breakfast. The commissioner agrees David can privately try for free in his spare time to find evidence of Christian's hoped innocence. David, the doctor and her parents worry jealous stress-fainted Katrijn may develop anorexia, David reassures her Karima may rather fall for Evert then himself.

Ben begs Jo for another chance, being denied decides to travel abroad again and offering to stay in touch, and graciously accepts Xavier's apologies for his implicit homophobia. David asks business partner Roland's help but is told Christian should simply stop shifting the blame for his crime. Hell-bent on beating the competition despite Xavier's car, Evert gets Tien to illegally 'upgrade' his scooter, then dares Xavier to race to a client.

Xavier wisely abstains from taking as crazy risks as Evert, who pushes his upgraded scooter to the limit and ignores traffic rules blatantly. While showing scare-denying Tien his snake, Jo insists she must undo the upgrade. While François sighs to Roger that the competitive business model is killing him, they spot the speed-devil, who shortly after crashes into a bus stop. David suspects unlike Christian that his uncooperative partner Roland must be guilty and bluffs with a search warrant he would never get to make him promise the missing accounts.

Thanks to Xavier, crashed Evert is quickly hospitalized and diagnosed lucky with mere bruises, but Roger promises a hefty court case and punishments, probably also for accomplice Tien. David hoped rightly to be about to prove Christian's innocence as only partner Roland contacted the crucial materials purveyor, so he's arrested in stunned son Bas's presence, Christian released.

Xavier agrees to work out a schedule for the American football team, whose showers are closed for repairs, to use the Spring showers when free. David grills Roland again and obtains a confession, so Christian is completely off the hook and Bas gets to make up with elated Chantal. Jo brings over the band equipment to Evert's hospital room so they can record the 'Swan Lake' sound track.

Xavier looked forward to Evert's trial which the Band dreads, but police court imposes them equal shares of the damages for a 'drag race', while Evert gets off further with a two weeks driver's license suspension and Tien with community service in the police garage. Roxanne turns down a national ad campaign 'girls can do boyish jobs too' when she's instructed to play a grease-monkey actually greasy, and is shocked when Marie-France follows on her sneer Tien would fit better. The first shower time mix-up happens just when Pia's pa's patience runs out, so he insists to attend a rehearsal but is only shown Roxanne's solo on the classical score.

Jo hopes the court sentences would make everyone see sense, but Evert is sabotaging the competition by sneaking an open can of paint thinner can into the kitchen. Worse, it causes a fire Xavier can't control, so it burns down. Christian and his wife make up, like Bas and Chantal party.

After Xavier testifies about the strange stench and noise, David starts an arson investigation, forensics finds a Spring-marked can. François fears the insurance may withhold payment, Evert realizes he risks a hefty prison term. Xavier, now without paid job, is dared to clear his mind by trying out at American football.

Xavier hesitantly accepts to replace a wounded player in the next American football match. David is convinced François is the logical suspect, having lied as if Xavier called him about the fire and after Evert recognizes his bicycle evidence piles up, leading to an insurance fraud confession.

Xavier prepares to join the 'ballet band' as guitarist, thus becoming one of several clues for Pia's inspecting pa to smell a rat, but even bunt allusions to a rock version of Swan Lake sound too absurd to assume that's more then childish jokes. Jo decides against trying out the live scenery creation. David returns Evert's driver's license.

It's the day of the dress rehearsal and grand premiere in the huge theatre, which excites both Spring teams even more. Christian and Marie-France become a coupe again. Pia only realizes what criminal risk she takes when her pa present her to Guillaume, the ministry official whose subsidy recommendation is vital for the theatre's existence. After a single Tchaikovski scene in tutus, the show mutates into a rock concert, but the crowd of Spring kin an friends loves it, so the delegate congratulates the popular experiment.
