Every time I see this video and hear the words to this oh so powerful song, I cry. It is at once beautiful and yet so, so sad. The material is raw and because the photos are in black and white, they are after all historic, it is all the more powerful and poignant. Willie did his research and, in an almost journalistic way, he exposes some very harsh truths that not many people were aware of at the time. Since the moment he sang it for us nearly 40 years ago, in my grandmother's kitchen, to this day it still resonates. At the time, the ending really impressed me with the collage of photos thrown onto a surface like playing cards, one by one. I'm still impressed, I haven't seen anything like that since.
