Coming of age story for a high school girl
ebiros215 June 2011
This is one of the Nikkatsu's Roman Poruno (Porn) series movie. This was it's early attempt to capture younger audience, and 19 year old Kaori Takeda makes her debut in this movie.

Yuko (Ako) and Rena (Kaori Takeda) are best friends in high school. Yuko after getting dumped by the boyfriend she lost her virginity to leaves Tokyo to head for Shinshu Nagano to console herself. Rena worried about her friend goes after her with only a suitcase in her hand. Rena meets many perverted men who knows a good thing when they see one, and tries to get her to go to bed with them. Soon she finds Yuko, and finds out that Yuko was making money to survive by prostituting. Soon Rena is also getting into prostitution. During her journey, Rena gets to learn much about the world of adults, and her trip to find her friend turns into a fast track to adulthood.

Based on a novel by Osamu Hashimoto of the same title, both the novel and the movie became a series that resulted in six novels and three movies (all starring Takeda). It was unusual at the time for such young actress to star in an adult oriented movie, and the theme of the movie was also oriented for young audience (mostly college students). Since then, shift continued and now adult video stars are considered "over the hill" by the age of 24, but back in the '70s appearance of Takeda was a novelty in the adult movie world.

Although made for Roman Poruno series, this movie has real plot and holds up as a drama as well. The background is set on then popular vacation destination for young people back in the '70s. The down side is weak story and weak acting by the new comers Takeda and Ako, but this series was never meant to be an artistic masterpiece, so it sticks to its roots of just entertaining the audience.

It was a popular movie back then that didn't wear well with time, but you can see the raw culture of Japan in the '70s which makes this movie worth watching.
