For the actress who was dubbed by Satyajit Ray "the most beautiful woman in India," "serious" roles were not too many in coming, but this is one of them. She is a natural performer, even though is misguided by "cliche-acting" in the Telugu film world. The film itself has all the elements of Balachander's style, as evidenced by the barrage of soaps being aired on the Telugu satellite channels. Strangely enough, it is shot in black and white, but is a fairly good "see."
