Sex & Nudity

  • Within the first three minutes of the movie there's a woman seen with very large breast that bounce around with her movements and it's fairly noticeable
  • Characters have very exaggerated breast sizes and hips.
  • The title character wears a low cut dress that reveals cleavage throughout the movie, and the dress is tattered and torn and also reveals her thigh and femur.
  • A woman is laced into a tight corset that reveals cleavage and bare shoulders.
  • Victor reaches under a woman's dress after dropping the ring.
  • When Victor tries to practice his wedding vows, he says "With this hand, I will cup your...", with his hands positioned on his chest looking like he's cupping breasts. He then realizes his awkward action, and says "Oh goodness, no."
  • A skeleton lifts up part of corpse bride's dress, revealing a slight part of her underwear. It is only in the background, as the focus is on the skeleton's face (skull).
  • One (living/dead) woman has a rip in her shirt at her breast, showing her bones.
  • The waiter Paul (who is a head carried by bugs) walks under a woman's dress.

Violence & Gore

  • A dead man splits himself in half down the middle of his body to move out of the way of a protagonist. His insides are visible.
  • Remember, it's all animated. Throughout the whole movie, there are no instances of blood.
  • Corpses are shown in sundry stages of decay and composition, with several having missing skin (that exposes teeth through a hole in the cheek, or ribs through a hole in the abdomen, or arm and leg bones), missing limbs, etc. Limbs and eyes fall off, but they simply reattach them.
  • One corpse is a severed head that moves around on the legs of beetles that are in his neck, another can spilt vertically (we see a cross-section), one corpse's eye pops out several times and there is a green, talking maggot residing in the eye socket (there are references to him eating her brain), and others are skeletons.
  • Corpse Bride is told that to marry Victor, he must commit suicide, as he is alive and she is dead.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Dead characters drink what's presumably some kind of beer.
  • A character smokes a pipe in some scenes, and is seen coughing.
  • There is only one scene in which a skeleton rants while drunk, and continues drinking until he passes out on the floor. However, this scene is meant to be more comedic.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • While practicing his vows out near a graveyard, a bunch of black birds converge in trees by him and a corpse's hand suddenly thrusts up out of the ground and grabs Victor's arm. He pulls back and the severed arm stays attached to him, and he then looks scared as a figure suddenly rises up out of the ground (but it turns out to be Emily). Victor runs, but trips and falls, hitting his head, as the arm crawls after him (and Emily picks it up as she also follows him). He continues to try to run away, but ends up twice running into the same tree, knocking himself out.
  • Emily has an appearance of a part of her cheek is missing, thus exposing some of her teeth/jawbone, she has a hole in her wedding dress and side that shows exposed ribs, and some of her limbs are skeletal while others are fleshy, etc. The same holds true for other dead characters that are "alive" (some of which have the weapons that killed them still inside their bodies including a sword through one, a knife in another's head, etc.; one that's just a severed head and another that's previously been cut completely in half -- thus offering several views of his internal organs and bones, including his brain etc. that have also been halved -- and some are straight skeletons.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • It is revealed that the Corpse Bride was murdered by a man she was planning to elope with, who then stole her money. The same man then marries Victoria and plans to do the same to her.
  • A man who was previously seen smoking and coughing multiple times dies after a strong cough, and falls off his carriage.
  • A man holds a sword to his wife's throat, until Victor intervenes and the two men fight, one with a sword and one with a fork; Victor pokes the other man a couple of times, the man with the sword lunges at Victor, and Emily stands in the way and is stabbed through the chest. As she is dead, she simply pulls the sword back out.
  • A man drinks from a chalice (previously mentioned to contain poison), he begins to gag and gasp, he turns blue (showing that he is dying), he is surrounded by corpses carrying knives and forks, he screams and is pushed by the corpses into a door, and the door is closed.
