A unique and positive view of São Paulo

Carlos Reichenbach's short film "Olhar e Sensação" ("Look and Sensation") presents with grace and style the city of São Paulo in a beautiful succession of images that presents the duality of one of Brazil's largest cities. Here, the director mixes the concrete jungle of the city's historical downtown along with the nature, tigers and other animals from the city's zoo. The majority of the film consists of this crazed balance that one city can bring to its habitants and visitors, then a brief monologue narrated by the director chronicles a surreal dream of the man related with the city.

It's a little pretentious when the words come out, I couldn't find a deeper meaning to it but I was absolutely amazed with the images presented here, showing lots of locations from the city I live and it's interesting to see how São Paulo has changed over the decades. It's beautifully shot and those who are fascinated by the l/ittle time machines movies can be will find here a delightful project that reveals how this great city was in the early 1990's. I highly recommend it. 8/10.
