A sensitive, yet refreshingly honest, story of the rivalry, friendship, and love between two male high school track stars. This film follows them through their numerous physical and emotional relationships. Ryuji, the son of a local gangster, is an arrogant newcomer to track competition at a second rate school. Kenji, the track-obsessed son of wealthy, but always absent, parents is the top runner for one of Tokyo's most prestigious schools. The two become involved in various relationships, which include Kenji's incestuous sister, a handicapped girl, an ambitious female athlete, and an older male track star that mysteriously commits suicide. In the end, the rivalry between Ryuji and Kenji brings the two closer together.
