A way
Vincentiu16 April 2010
A poem. About travel and the colors of a world, about the shadows of revolution, about a young composer victim of a strange universe. In fact, images of a society's death. A film about nuances of hope and expectation. As an old song about twilight, ancient words and dreams as smoke birds. For me this movie was wrapped in the end of Levan Abashidze. So, the music of Mahler, the remarks of characters, the music as soul of Georgian Euridice who must be saved the search of happiness, the fear as water of another Styx, the stone faces of women, the chain of victims, the gray soul of every frame, the pieces of Visconti's filmography are bricks of a deep "memento mori". A beautiful homage to a lost space.

death of a world

one of my favorite films. sure, for Levan Abashindze. for the crumbs from Visconti and Pasolini. for the atmosphere and acting and references to Kafka and the fall of a world as a fight between obscure forces. one of films like a letter from other universe. beautiful and bizarre. seductive and dramatic. all seems be well known. not as story but as meet with small details who define the innocence in middle of a war who remains a sort of dark humor example. Mahler and Visconti and Bergman. and soft delicacy of a sort of melancholia. this is it. nothing surprising. only a trip across the memory of a time and the silhouettes of its people.
