Certification

Sex & Nudity

  • A teenage boy accidentally walks in on his preteen sister offscreen and she screams that he saw her naked, no nudity is obviously shown and his other sister flashes her bra and underwear after he teases her about a boy stealing them.

  • One man shouts. "Hey everybody. We're going to get laid."
  • In one scene, a young couple are kissing
  • A niece of a golfer is seen with a white stripped top that is slightly see through. She is not wearing a bra and her nipples are somewhat noticeable.
  • This is rated R, not suitable for those under 18. Above, the first line of Certification is wrong. It says United States:13+ (Common Sense Media) -- that's WRONG . I looked up this movie on Common Sense Media and they say 17+
  • A topless female is briefly seen during the pool scene.
  • In the pool there is a topless girl sitting on top of a man's shoulders with her boobs out.
  • A man and a woman are seen making out in bed. Female breasts shown

Violence & Gore

  • A gopher bites a man.

  • For an R rated film the content is relatively mild.

  • 1 use of the F-word
  • 5 uses of "shit"
  • 1 use of "whore"
  • 2 uses of "goddamn"
  • A few uses of "bitch"
  • Almost all of the profanity in the movie occurs once Rodney Dangerfield's character appears.
  • Pretty tame profanity for an early 80's R rated film.
  • Cinemax content advisory: rated R for adult language (AL), and adult content (AC).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Carl tries ruthlessly to kill the gophers at the golf course, at one point he puts explosives down all the gopher holes. As a result they all blow up and part of the course sets on fire. It's actually a rather funny scene and cartoonish in nature, and nobody gets hurt.
