Excellent short
Chromantic7 January 2007
The first and I believe only Bob Swaim movie I've watched is La Balance, disappointing - and if the DVD cover is anything to go by, overrated - early 80s cop fare. However the rental price wasn't wasted as the DVD featured this, and one other (less impressive) short of Swaim's. I have an avid interest in short films but find myself more often deflated than invigorated thanks to pointless twist-in-the-tale endings, poor acting and poorer humour, but this is one of the rare exceptions. Beautifully set, shot and acted, and with a terrific, thought-provoking script, this is an unpatronising and unsettling effort, well worth seeking out for anyone interested in the short film form.
