Soumitra, a budding businessman, meet Mallika on a business trip to Sankarpur and they fall in love. Soumitra knew that his parent would not accept Mallika therefore they secretly get married. Soumitra promises Mallika that he would come back with his parents and leave for Kolkata. In the meantime Mallika conceives and is subjected to insult and torture from the society. She runs away from the neighborhood. Soumitra convinces his parents and comes to take Mallika bout does not find her there. He sees a dead body with the same ring that Mallika wore and assumes her to be dead. He remarries but becomes a widower soon. In the meantime Mallika gives birth to a baby boy and names him Soumya. After twenty-five years, Soumya joins Soumitra's company and by destiny's grace, Soumitra and Mallika meet again. They are united.
