The hotel Orchestra Director, "Clipper" Canovan, puts them on they air and they click, and start the search for a sponsor. Toby Spencer urges Pete to renew his efforts to become a radio star and suggests her father, Walter, as a possible sponsor. He owns a cannery for which J. B. Lawton furnishes the pineapples. Be he and Lawton have an argument and dissolve their partnership, and neither has the money to do business alone.
