They don't fly through the air with the greatest of ease.

Likeable enough, but oh so familiar with the style of gags already done by Bud and Lou, and of course a frenzied finale. Musical moments are better than some of the comedy sketches, and it's a great dual role from Martha "Take it from the big mouth!" Raye, stealing every scene by simply being herself, and for her second role, someone completely different.

Working in a carnival, Abbott and Costello are fired, so they join pal Dick Foran in the army air corps (this was pre-Air Force as a separate military organization), and create all sorts of disarray. Raye plays sisters, one bombastic and man crazy (going after Lou), the other calm and soft spoken (taking a liking to Bud), and of course, the boys don't know they're twins. Foran is paired with pretty cabaret singer Carol Bruce, quite lovely and far from her later role as Mama Carlson on "WKRP".

The musical highlight is Martha's "Pigfoot Pete", and she shows her ability to sing, dance and scat, in addition to her non-singing comedy skills. She's quite ladylike and lovely as the other sister too, quite a nice change of pace. Bruce wears some lovely gowns, and adds sparkle. The boys continue their typical antics, and some of the gags at Lou's expense seem unnecessarily mean spirited. But the film is funny, patriotic and fast moving, all that was required in the early 40's for a musical farce.
