Feel Good Movie
10 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I saw Accidental Texan, starring Thomas Haden Church-the Spider_Man movies, The Peanut Butter Falcon; Rudy Pankow-Outer Banks_tv, Uncharted; Carrie_Anne Moss-the Matrix movies, Models Inc._tv and Bruce Dern-The Peanut Butter Falcon.

This is one of those feel good movies. You know the kind, that even though you know how it's going to end, you still feel good. Rudy plays an actor that gets his first big break to be in a movie that is filming in Louisiana, but messes it up and gets fired. When he is driving back to California through Texas, his car breaks down. He walks to the nearest town and meets Thomas at a cafe run by Carrie_Anne. Since Rudy only has about $40 to his name, Thomas offers to get his car fixed for him if Rudy will help him out on a job. The job is working on an oil rig. Of course, Rudy doesn't know anything about drilling for oil but he is an actor and that's what Thomas really needs-Rudy to act like he knows what he is doing, to fool certain people. Thomas is on a deadline to hit oil or he will loose everything he owns. Bruce plays an old farmer that owns a prime spot for drilling that everyone wants to drill on, but he doesn't want to lease his land out-he is a stubborn old coot. The movie was filmed in Texas and there is a nice little tip of the hat to Whataburger.

It's rated PG-13 for violence and language and has a running time of 1 hour & 44 minutes.

It's not one that I would buy on DVD-once was enough-but it would be alright to stream.
