not bad but could be much better

Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes personal dramas are so magnified that it no longer feels believable.

In my opinion, this film occasionally rubs against that a bit, so it is a good thing that all the important actors and actresses play their roles so well, otherwise this film would have been a major failure.

That always remains the pitfall with these types of drama films, on the one hand you have to have something to emotionally bind the viewer to you, but on the other hand you should not overdramatize it, otherwise the majority will drop out because it becomes too unbelievable.

There were 2 scenes where I would have liked some more information because Katie's mother character was kept quite vague, in the beginning of the film it actually turns out that she is the main culprit of the accident in which she herself died, her character becomes short scene portrayed as jealous and unsympathetic.

Furthermore, in the further course of the story, you don't really get the impression from Papa that he is devastated by the loss of his wife, you rather get the idea that he is not really concerned with it.

Still, after that first scene you do get questions about what their relationship was really like, but that topic is avoided in the rest of the film, in my opinion a missed opportunity.
