It has a strong main story line with sub stories telling the historical events. The complex relationships and struggles of the charachter made the movie that strong, because it is not shallow, each charachter is showing very depth. Pity on the directing asking for a dated acting style really a BBC kind. They have invest enough into decor and not left to be cheap. They do invest in much in keeping the serie fresh and intersting as it introduced many new charachters also cutting off some stories making it difficult to build a reliable core cast and where the movie wants to go. Do need to say it is clear who cannot left out making the audience easy to ignore or not putting too much energy into to know them. They do plan to have an sequal as they did not cramp it all into a mini serie.
