The challenges in accepting a man who voluntarily loves Upma.
4 September 2023
Mohan is an IT employee with snoring problem which prompts his colleagues to mock him as Motor Mohan. He is weak in English, which his reporting manager uses to humiliate him. After facing rejection from his office crush, he eventually befriends Anu, a shy girl who works as an asst accountant at an auditing firm. She is an orphan, who is deemed unlucky which has forced her into being reserved. They eventually fall in love and get married. Mohan's snoring problem starts taking a toll on their relationship aided by the usual misunderstanding and how the couple overcome these differences forms rest of the story.

This feel good film gets it right from the beginning by establishing the characters of Mohan and his family, starting off on a relatable note. His struggles at the office and his equation with the brother-in-law works well. Similarly, the characterization of Anu, being reserved and to an extent of being submissive as well, it is laudable that she finds her own identity while saving her marriage. The subplot involving the elder sister too strikes the right emotional chord.

The main focus remains on Mohan's mild sleep apnea and it's impact on his relationship, though it feels the story is revolving entirely on this, the characters with their performances ensure to carry the story forward. Slight trimming was required in the second half wrt Mohan and Anu's deteriorating relationship with Mohan being distant, that is only because the subplot provides enough melodrama. I would still recommend this for a feel good watch.
