So I am just going to ask the question - WHY is this film, in a very popular genre, somehow in a league of its own; held as high in cinema history as the great epics and dramas?
There's only one answer - Jodie Foster.
She lends a credibility to this film that was completely void in its sequel; and couldn't even be replicated with the great Edward Norton in Red Dragon.
Any other actress, and this movie is just one in the rank and file of the genre.
