Peter (Jason Segel) composes music for a television series. Sarah (Kristen Bell) stars on that show. They have been a couple for more than five years. When she breaks up with him, he can't get past his heartbreak, though he tries almost everything. In an effort to get away from everything that reminds him or her, he goes to Hawaii for a vacation---where he finds her also vacationing.

Russell Brand plays the part of the guy you would least like to see your ex with. And Mila Kunis works at the hotel on Oahu where most of the action plays out.
