Review of Sugarfoot

Sugarfoot (1951)
8/10
Rare Randolph Scott Western

Warning: Spoilers
Sugarfoot is a very rarely seen Randolph Scott Western ( based on the few reviews here ( 4), that I saw today on Ok. RU ( this seems to be the place to find rare movies like this). Here Scott plays Jackson Redan a former Confederate Soldier trying to start over in Prescott, Arizona. He is nicknamed "Sugarfoot" because he is a Southern Gentleman very unaware of the way things work in Arizona. He is given a love interest in dance hall girl singer Reva Cairn ( Adele Jergens) who is actually much meaner and tougher then Randolph Scott himself. Spoilers ahead: Does Scott defeat the bad guys and end up with Reva? Of course he does, but how he does it is why you watch. There are also some surprises including people who I expected to get killed actually survive. So that was a nice touch. In all, a very good Randolph Scott movie that I had never seen before. Is it his best? No but well worth the time. 8/10 stars.
