8/10
I enjoy the caustic humor.

Yorgos Lanthimos is the director of the historical drama "The Favourite," which has a cast that includes Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, and Emma Stone. In the early 18th century in England, the film depicts the tale of the stormy relationship that developed between two cousins as they competed for the favour of Queen Anne (Colman).

Colman gives an outstanding performance as Queen Anne, and Weisz and Stone are just as good as her cousins Sarah and Abigail respectively in this drama. Strong performances are also given by the rest of the cast, notably Nicholas Hoult and Joe Alwyn. Robbie Ryan delivers a magnificent performance behind the camera, and both the production design and costume design are opulent and meticulously executed.

The film's keen wit, caustic humour, and examination of power relations are what really set it apart from other similar works. As the protagonists traverse the harsh world of court politics, the screenplay that Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara have created is witty and well-crafted, and it keeps the audience on their toes.

The Favourite is an outstanding picture that is boosted not just by its great performances but also by its stunning photography and its clever narrative. It is a film that should not be missed by everyone who enjoys historical dramas as well as anyone who is searching for a movie that can both amuse and provoke thinking.
