Slow But Atmospheric
1 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't mind a movie that takes its time to tell a story. Some films rush through while others take forever to get to the point. This movie is slow paced but it does build a very creepy atmosphere and that's important in a movie like this. It starts off with a young woman being hired to care for an elderly bedridden man. The start of The Devil's Child has very The Others vibes but then begins to veer in a slightly different direction.

The movie does manage to create a very ominous old dark house vibe and the actors all manage to convey the tension that builds as the supernatural elements start to kick in. The biggest problem is that it begins to become mired down, especially when the young woman's friends turn up. Also, there are some things that weren't made clear, but that could have just been me as well. All up, it's a good film, just a little slow in places.
