A thing of beauty
6 September 2022
I was just back from India a week when I went to see this film in Dublin. I was prepared to be disappointed and didn't put an effort into reading about the film or any reviews beforehand. I'm writing this review because I want to share with you that I was totally transported by this beautiful film . The intimate visuals brought me into the small spaces of the young boys world. The cooking spot in his home where his mothers hands prepare the daily food to the cathartic magic of the cinema projection room. And the story is really good . Cinema is huge in India, I remember back in the Nineties in India going to see films in small rural cinemas stuffed to capacity with audiences shouting singing and dancing to the plot. Fireflies lighting up the night screenings - This film captures the magic and the meaning of what film means in small rural communities . And what it means to be a boy who is trying to make sense of something so elusive on many levels. Go see this film - it's a celebration of film and what it is to touch magic . I loved it. 👍Michelle.
